I currently have a girlfriend who i love heaps. Even though i thought having a girlfriend and being really happy would solve my anxiety and depression issues it didn't. Currently i am worrying about something which i know is stupid and didn't happen however i let it get to my head, and think that maybe it did happen. I recently had a dream that i was in my girlfriends bed and her sister walked in and we talked about weird stuff and kissed and a little more but not intercourse. As the only time this could have been possible was when i was alone in her bed which is between 7-9.30 when i was alone and she left for work early in the morning. I would never do anything like that and i am so against cheating which is why i think it is getting to me so much. I am so confident it didn't happen that i even told my girlfriend and she just laughed.
Has anything similar happened to anyone else and have you got any advice?
Thanks

Hi BigC, welcome to Beyond Blue forums
I'm no psychologist but it could be fear that is driving your delusions. i.e. if any 5 second length of passion came form you to your GF's sister or any other gil for that matter, and your GF found out it could do irrepairable damage.
The mind is a strange organ. Fantasies, dreams, unrealistic thoughts will cloud your mind all your life. It is like a lots of things, best just to manage them as best you can and not take them too seriously.
Take care

Hi Bigc,
I'm sure all of us here have had dreams that we thought felt real, or dreams about things that we would never really actualise in reality, so you are not alone. I know I dreamed about being intimate with my ex just over a year after meeting my current partner. It can be quite shocking at the time. It can also leave you with feelings of guilt and confusion. I'm sure the question has crossed your mind "why did I dream that?"
Dreams are exactly that. They are not necessarily any form of interpretation of what happens in our conscious mind. I think telling your girlfriend was a wise and brave choice, but don't beat yourself up too much. It's definitely not a sign of infidelity.
I'll leave you with this quote...
If I had my life to live over, I would perhaps have more actual troubles but I'd have fewer imaginary ones. ~Don Herold
