I'm new around here and am I'm really confused at the moment because I think I may have a kind of depression/anxiety but am not certain. I'm definitely feeling some pain at the moment and it is incredibly hard to admit. I haven't really talked about it to anyone and I think this may be the best place for me to start talking and I'm aiming to eventually figure out what's happening.

Hi Blak3

My name is Paul and welcome to the forums and thankyou for posting!

To have even a small amount of depression/anxiety and post about it makes you a very strong person Blak. I have had depression/anxiety for many years and the feelings can be horrible. It is very common and you are not on your own...There are many kind and caring people here that can help

Do you have any feelings of anxiety or depression that you want to talk about? I see that you are in pain and I do remember how awful it was..If you wish to let me know any more detail you are more than welcome to post back!

We are here for you Blak

Kind Thoughts for you

Paul

Welcome Blak3. I am really sorry to hear that you are in emotional pain at present.

I would suggest that you have a good look around the BB Website as there are many resources here that will help you to determine whether or not you have depression and/or anxiety. I'd suggest you scroll down from here to the blue section below. Start with the Section under 'The Facts', followed by 'Get Support'.

Its not an easy task to talk about mental illness, and I totally agree with you that its a hard thing to admit to. But until you admit there is a problem, then you cannot access the help you may need in order to successfully recover.

Once you have read the relevant sections I think you will have a better idea of whether you have a depression or anxiety problem. If you decide that you may do - the best place to start is to book an appointment to see your GP. And he/she will advise you from there.

In the meantime, have a good browse through the different secions of the Forums and read some of the threads that you find relevant to yourself. Feel free to post a reply to any of the threads if you feel confident in doing so.

You will find that the people here on the Forums are very helpful, understanding and caring. We all suffer from one form or another (sometimes many) of mental illness. So we do understand what you are going through, and would be very happy to offer support in any way we can.

If you are comfortable in providing further details of your circumstances, you will find that people's advise will be better targeted to your own particular issues. Keep in mind that this is a very safe and secure environment, which is closely moderated. You should have no qualms about posting personal details, as you will remain anonymous at all times.

I hope you will post back with further details.

Kind regards,

Sherie xx

Hi Paul

First of all I don't know if I have an anxiety problem yet but I don't want it to seem in bad taste by posting on this forum. I just really want to know if these feelings are normal teenage worry or maybe something more. The feelings of anxiety seem to be on and off. I mean maybe two days in a row I feel horrible and the next day things might be quite a bit better. This has been happening for a while now on and off and I am just really confused and scared.

When I am around people I am comfortable with, a lot of the time I will feel fine and confident. But it comes and goes but when it happens it is horrible. Some days I will isolate myself as much as I can because of it. The other thing is sometimes these anxious feelings will start for no reason. And it normally just gets worse. I seem to have small bursts of big anxiety which add to this. I have found that I have a lot of the symptoms of anxiety. These anxious feelings often lead to me feeling depressed. I am a male teenager and that makes this kind of thing really hard to talk about because of the social expectations.

I haven't said anything to anyone and it was really hard to post this. I have been going through this alone and it is scary to post this to a person I have never met.
