Hello Net and welcome to Beyond Blue forums.

changes to your life. Children growing up and living their own lives, work and hubby a bit quiet. All the makings for a little boredom and depression.

the death of your friend 2 years ago would also make things even sadder.

I always find talking is good. Who do you have around to talk to? For example a close family member or trusted friend?

i also find having a good doctor and counsellor helps me. Do you see anyone?

having interests I've found is a way to improve my wellbeing. For example joining local walking group, book club, gym.

grounding, mindfulness and meditation are ways that I keep up and have less downs. There are a few threads here. Do a search for the topic that interests you. Only if you want to. No pressure.

Leep reaching out. You are not alone.

Hello Net62, can I offer a warm welcome to you.

Losing a friend is never easy to understand or comprehend why I'm terribly sorry for you.

When our life progresses we achieve many goals, and yes we struggle through some feeling sad and frustrated but we still try and achieve something else but with depression, it suddenly stops, we don't have any enthusiasm, there's no challenge in life.

There can be a feeling as though life has no purpose when your children leave home but go back through the years and think about all the adventures that were pushed aside simply because it was inconvenient and couldn't be done, now it's the opportunity to tackle them once more.

If they don't interest you anymore and feel stuck because you're not feeling well and don't have the energy then there's a reason and seeing your doctor would be a great idea because you've come to a cross road and unsure where to go.

You're not alone feeling like this, so it would be lovely to hear back from you when it suits you.

Geoff.
