Hey all,

Im new to BB, and I was directed to this site from my doctor. My health has reached such a low point that I had to leave work yesterday after crying uncontrollably and being highly anxious. I am on a waiting list to see a pscych, doc says it may be PTSD after a lot of shit I went through 6 months ago. I'm highly anxious and paranoid. I slept 12 hrs last night and finally a bit calmer.

Anyway enough about me, how are you all going ? Any advice on how to calm yourself during panic attacks ?

Hi Miss-C ...so courageous of you to accept your feelings...and Reach out...I can certainly resonate with what experiences you are having now...I find Meditation a great help..just simple focus on Breathing ...and Mindfulness ...trying to stay focused in the ‘Power of Now’ (an amazing book by Eckhart Tolle) ...I make my feelings my friends...I don’t resist them....just Accept...then thru Meditation and Prayer...ask for Divine intervention and “Let them Go’....my simple explanation is my feelings are created by my thoughts ...so if I don’t like how I’m feeling...my solution is to change the Thought...wishing you the best in recovery 😇

Hi HopefulHazza and thank you for the kind words and advice.

I actually have that book 'the power of now' and have never got around to reading it but now is the time ! I once read a quote that your mind can be your best friend or worst enemy ! I don't want to be enemies with my mind any more.

hello Miss-C, being on a waiting list to see a psych isn't going to help you immediately, so can I suggest that you try and contact Reachout, Lifeline, Lifeline, Beyond Blue, Betterhelp, Mindspot and Headspace, I know that's a long list to even start to think about, but perhaps just do a 'enie minie mo'.
Has your work got somewhere to send you to, I'm not sure you're the first person from work to feel this way, and please I only mean this metaphorically.
I hope that your doctor has offered some type of medication to help you, and by sleeping 12 hours can be good or it's your anxiety that has made you do this, I suppose that will depend on how many hours you sleep tonight, but if you wake up feeling as though you've only had a couple of hours sleep, then that's the effect from your illness.
Please be mindful that with anxiety depression is right behind it.
Write down on a piece of paper what concerns you, because when you start talking to someone you will forget some vital points that you want to talk about, and I urge you to contact one or more of these links above which I have mentioned. Geoff.

Thanks Geoff for the advice,

im tired all day no matter how long I sleep, it's getting harder and I'm having more hallucinations. I'm going back to see my doctor Wednesday. I will write my issues on a note so I don't forget.
