Trouble finding clinical psychologist willing to deal with Centrelink

JackM

I live in Sydney city, and I am having trouble finding a clinical psychologist willing to deal with Centrelink in terms of writing out the Centrelink forms for my DSP application. My previous CP has long since moved to Melbourne, and I had not been on Centrelink at all for 6 years (even though I was still unwell).

The problem is not finding a CP willing to affirm my issues, but finding one that will have anything to do with Centrelink at all. Any ideas where I can find a CP willing to do this?

Hey Jack;

We can't recommend professionals on here I'm sorry. But I might have a tip for you. Before applying for DSP, contact the NDIS coordinator in your area and apply there first. (Or online if that's easier) Once you're an NDIS client, it'll support your DSP app.

Centrelink sucks big time! It's motivated by money, not severity as they claim.

Your previous CP will have notes on you and can pass them onto your next clinician with your permission. Or, your last CP might be able to help via email?? Not sure of your relationship, but they might offer to support you online if you're desperate.

You'll need reports for the NDIS anyway, so it might be worth a shot.

Good luck!

Just Sara,

You have no idea how helpful that was. I was under the impression that I needed to be on the DSP before going on the NDIS. The NDIS has just arrived in my area, too. I am going to find the CP, get the docs, apply for NDIS, then the DSP.

Thanks!

hi Jack, good advice from Sez (Just Sara), maybe to help you, also google 'NDIS' there's a lot of information on that site. Geoff.
