Quitting smoking!!

I know I'm sure you all think I'm as crazy as I think I am!

Who tries to quit cigarettes at a time as triggering as this?  Me it seems.

24 hours, feels like a year!

It's because I started smoking when I was living in hell and I want to do something to show myself that hell is well and truly over.

One thing on the positive side it's certainly not as bad as coming off meds, at least so far.

I'm sure I'll possibly be posting some crazy messages for a little while - nicotine withdrawals suck!

Cheers

Hi Amamas

Bloody awesome effort and good on you for getting this started.  I have no personal experience to share on this subject as I've never smoked in my life.  Ok ok, that's not entirely true, I did try a cigarette at a party when I was at school and felt really sick after it ...

Post away crazily all you want ... (I always do)  🙂  🙂

Hang in there Amamas and keep it going.  That first step you take is the longest stride.

Cheers

Thanks for your support guys! Yes to the coffee!

So far my poor stress ball is getting a hell of a work out.  I'm going to put Popeye's forearms to shame at this rate, no need for the spinach can!!

Hey Jason

Good luck to you and your wife!  I've heard those Green Smokes are very very effective!!

I don't know if you've read my posts but I'm having a Rambo movie marathon at the moment.  I'm thinking if Rambo can fight those hundreds of people by himself and rescue POW's at the same time I'm thinking a little nicotine withdrawal is nothing!!

I look forward to hearing how you guys go!  They say the first three days are the hardest.  I hope their right.

Hanging in there, Amamas

dear Amamas, my eldest son is doing the same as you are, and he's a bit edgie, but his wife doesn't want any smoke to around Marcie and the little one that is due early next year.

I remember as kids we used to smoke bamboo sticks, but I'm not a smoker at all, and if I was my life insurance premiums would be atrocious.

I wonder what's worse overcoming depression or to give up smoking, which you may do because of the illness, so they are tarred with the same brush. L Geoff. x

Hey Amamas

Congratulations on making the first huge step in stopping to smoke.  Well done.

It takes a lot of courage and strength to do this.  Thinking of you and take it one day at a time.  Keep going you can do it!!!

 Keep in touch,

Jo

Good Morning!

Thank you all so incredibly much for your support!

I'm finding the repeated daily moments that included a cigarette the hardest.  Like right now I'm having my post brekky coffee which usually, in the past, included smoking.

I thought I'd get on BB instead to try and change my habit.

Aside from the nicotine withdrawals and cravings it's a beautiful morning this morning! I usually sit outside to have my brekky.  Any of you do that?  It's wonderful!

I agree with you Geoff about the smoking/depression.  I find at least for myself the smoking easier because (besides the withdrawals) it's external something I can physically see and change.  The part of depression that I find hardest is that it's inside, I can't see it.

Thanks for your support Jo, I'll definitely be posting a lot while the withdrawals are so full on - keeps my hands busy and my mind distracted!

44 hours down, the rest of my life to go

Cheers Amamas

Hi Amamas

We're all riding this with you ... and according to my records, it's now 45 hours!  Brilliant stuff.

I'm heaps proud of you and do all you can to try and find other things to occupy yourself if you feel the going is getting tough.

Did you finish the Rambo-athon?

And no, I don't sit outside with brekkie, although it would be a nice thing to do, it's just that the flies around here are extremely friendly and would want to have their share of it as well.

Cheers

Neil
