Hi All
I'm new here just thought I'd ask the question when changing meds that were only taken for 6 weeks back to another Med, I know its only been a few days so I need to wait for it to kick in however my problem is that I feel there is something medically wrong with me and the GP just puts it down to the onset of menopause and anxiety I have had scans and Colonoscopy up and down, nothing just had ultra sound on my neck as my glands pulsate a lot but nothing found as yet, I'm not sleeping shaking and the only Comfort I get is short term medication which I know is highly addictive. I work full time in customer service normally I'm happy loud and bubbly now I feel flat sour and just really want to lay down and make this feeling go away, I feel sick , nausea, sore joints and head aches that are horrible, I heat up from the chest to the neck through out the day and then take jacket off , chills put jacket back on , drives me nuts Ive spent so much money on doctors this last 4 months and Im still no better ??? any clues to what or where I should turn to next. Any help would be appreciated, am I over thinking too much ?

Hi and welcome Jayne;
You've come to the right place though we're not professionals. We're a bunch of caring people who have our own issues, but are pleased to support however and whenever we can.
You've been through the mill by the sounds of it. The hot and cold flashes do sound like hormones playing up. Basically this time in a woman's life can be fraught with very differing symptoms from others which makes it hard to diagnose. My GP just said "It's something we all have to go through". Bit of a bummer really.
The 'endocrine system' has to do with all your major glands starting with the hypothalamus/pituitary glands in your brain. They're the head honcho's; the thymus and thyroid (butterfly shaped) glands in your neck and chest control metabolism and immune systems. There's sexual glands like ovaries and pancreas for sugar metabolism. They're all over the body and can cause real problems if not working correctly.
An Endocrinologist can check hormone levels through blood tests and give you a better idea if it's hormonal or not. You need a referral from your GP, though these specialists are pretty busy so you might have to wait a while. In the mean time, you could explore International or Australian University website's for info. Make sure they're reputable, you don't want anxiety due to misinformation.
I hope you have a counsellor or psychologist to help out too. Lifeline and BeyondBlue have chat lines via phone and online. There may be links on here (at the top of the page) to find relevant info.
I hope things work out Jayne; let us know how you go ok?
Kind thoughts;
..Dizzy (Hugs)
