Hi my husband is struggling with depression and won't get help. As a result I'm struggling now. I have 2 kids and am barley hanging on here. 17 years ago i was married to a man with sever depression and he ended up killing himself. I really need to find some kind of support group to keep myself sain here. Does anyone know how to find local support groups?

Welcome Busa,

Thanks for your post!

I am so sorry to hear about your previous husband. If you don't mind me asking, did you seek professional counselling to help you with this loss?

It's frustrating when a loved one will not seek support. With two kids and a husband with mental illness, I am glad you recognize the importance of looking after your own wellbeing.

I just did a search online, and found a reputable-looking organisation that could provide support:

http://carersqld.asn.au/contact-us/queensland-offices (this organisation for carer support has head offices in both North and South Brisbane)

Within the above site is a helpful resource page: http://carersqld.asn.au/resources/mental-health

The organisation's carer advisory service is reachable on 1800 242 636.

Going to your doctor (GP) is also an option. They could suggest support options and people to go to for further assistance.

It would be great to hear back from you 🙂

Best wishes,

Zeal
