Long story short with many missing details; 20y/o with BPD, social anxiety, chronic depression, (somewhat undiagnosed) eating disorder and CPTSD. From a dysfunctional family with death being a "normal" part of my childhood.
Have tried a long list of medications, numerous psychologists, psychiatrists, attempts and consequently numerous hospital admissions and here I am still struggling, slipping through the cracks of our lacking health system. I feel as though I've exhausted all options and am seriously considering mentioning ECT if/when I get the courage to go to a GP.
My question is, what do you do when you feel as though you've exhausted your options and are at the point of no return? I've been suffering to an extreme for the past 4 years with absolutely no break or relief. With no support from immediate family and my aunt taking on my burden, it's taking it's toll on not only me but my aunt who has become my carer.
Any thoughts/advice greatly appreciated.

Hello Consumedbydemons (can I abbreviate to CBT?)
welcome to the BB forum. I am happy to see you reading out for support. Thank you.
As I have just suggested to Cherryontop, if you feel that you have exhausted all your options, and you reside in NSW, I would make an appointment with your local Community Health Centre and seek their guidance - they may even offer to treat you (depending on your personal circumstances). They are often collocated with your nearest public hospital. Just a thought. I am sure other states have similar organisations.
not sure if this is the sort of suggestions you were looking for?
take care

Hi
just to elaborate on my previous reply, why I suggested the local Community Health Centre is because they have access to the full range of health professionals and between them can maybe come up with a plan that works for you.

Hi Consumedbydemons,
Welcome to the forums and as AOK has suggested, thanks for reaching out and trusting us to offer you some support, and where possible some advice.
I also have BPD, so I'm guessing I could be a little clued into what your world could be like. I'm not medically trained but I did want to start by simplifying some things for you. I like to see Social Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Depression as symptoms of BPD, and PTSD as a possible contributing factor to BPD. The reason why I like to keep it simple is so that it doesn't sound so overwhelming to manage. Also because when you look at the 9 possible traits of BPD you will find that Anxiety, Depression, and EDs each fit into one or more of the traits.
I hear from your post that you have been seeing a Psychologist and Psychiatrist for some time now, along with a number of medications. I completely understand how frustrating this can be. What's even more frustrating is that there is no real direct cure for BPD. Having said that, it can definitely be managed with more ease, and you can definitely still have hopes of going on to live a "normal" and enriched life.
I wanted to ask some questions, if you don't mind. Have you heard of or completed Dialectical Behaviour Therapy? Are you still currently taking medication and seeing a Therapist? Is there a reason why you are not confident with going back to your GP? Has anyone explained the benefits/side effects of ECT with you?
If you feel that you would like some more information on BPD/DBT then search borderlinesupport. They are a Melbourne based organisation run by a woman who has recovered from BPD, after experiencing it at it's peak for more than 8 years. If you live in or near Melbourne they also run a monthly support group. Definitely worth a look.
I hope that you will get back to us, and I'm happy to listen, or even share some of my experiences to date.

HI AGrace and thank you for your insightful reply. Apologies for it taking so long to reply.
In answer of your questions, I completed 6 months of DBT before being forced to leave due to being sent to live interstate due to mental health.
I'm not currently seeing a therapist or GP due to being back "home" visiting and have done for the past 3+ weeks and haven't been taking meds for a couple of months now (another complicated story). ECT has never been discussed, period. However it's been in the back of my mind since my last hospital admission as everything else has evidently got me no where and I'm deteriorating at a rapid pace.
Unfortunately I live in NSW, but thanks for the suggestion. We need consistent resources state wide.
Thank you again.
