struggling with special needs children

Does anyone else have children with special needs.I am struggling with mine.My youngest cant use a toilet when their at the age they should be.I am getting tired of changing them,does that make me a bad parent?The constant hyperepisodes are taking their strain especially that i am going through other personal stuff in my life

Hi Hanna it is a lot cooler here today with rain.I went into town and got some things.Now just spending the rest of the day watching TV.

Will be a busy week with my sons high school information night tomorrow and I have something on wedseday and Thursday.I will be going up early Friday to help set the hall up for graduation night.

I will have to get onto ndis and see if I can a laptop for my son.I can't read his hand writing at all and he appears he has dyslexia as well.The high school were going to arrange to have him tested for it.

I am hoping it is cooler for you today.

Sounds like you have a few busy days ahead of you! I hope everything goes well for you all.

It turned stormy and cool here today - it rained hard for quite a while which we desperately need. I had a busy day doing shopping, going to the library, and met up with one of my neighbours for a coffee and chat. I have a long day tomorrow driving into the next really big town to get a few things I need.

I am looking forward to relaxing this evening! Let me know how all the school things etc go, won't you. All the best!

A few busy days ahead but take it a day at a time.Nice bit of rain here with 35mm in the gauge.It was lovely to hear it running into takes.Hopefully some more around as their is storms forecast for later when I have to go out.I will let you know how the meeting goes.

Hi Hanna the meeting went well and it was about the kids fears and what they were looking forward as well as bullying advice.Would have been about 10 students there which was a bit disappointing as they have 50 enrolled for next year so far and their was another 3 from my sons school from a class of 14.Their was another boy with special needs there as well.The lady who did the talk was from the really big city two and half hours away.It was one with interaction with the parents and students.One teacher was there and the lazy from the office who I have k own for years.He will spend a day at the high school in the last week of school doing a mock day with classes and tuckshop and everything.

Looking very stormy here at the moment with severe thunderstorms forecast.Driving back last night I could see lighting in the distance but didn't get any storm here.

A shame more parents and students didn't turn up but good that you went along. It sounds a good idea your son has a day at the new school to familiarize him with thing like the school tuck shop. That will help him be less anxious when he actually starts at the school.

We have had day after day of overcast, muggy weather but with no rain - it would feel better if we had a decent thunderstorm to clear the air - and this seems to be going on for days to come. The climate is very strange.

I'm a bit unwell with a stomach upset that seems to be going around so I can't get up to much - reading a couple of good books from the local library and maybe watching a movie tonight - but being contagious I am pretty much grounded for a couple of days and i don't feel up to doing much.

How is your daughter going at the RSPCA? I've told people here that i will start to look for a new rescue doggie after the Christmas/New Year - I need to save some money as well!

Not much news but I wanted to say hi.

Oh and I got the car headlight covers cleaned at the mechanic - that was about $160 but at leas the car is through rego now. The car headlight covers are now nice and clear - don't know why it took hours and that much money to clean them but oh well- main thing is I can drive the car again! It's hard in the regions without a vehicle, public transport in the regions in Australia is hopeless!

Hi Hanna I am glad your car is right to go now.Everything seems to cost a lot of money even simple things like cleaning headlights.Did they give you any tips on how to keep them clear?

The meeting was good for my son as he wasn't afraid to put his hand up and say in front of everyone what his fears were about starting high school.The Kids seem to all participate.I know that boy with special needs will be in his class and it wi be a combined class with year 8s and 9s.

My daughter is enjoying the rspca and they will be doing a big clean soon getting ready for the Christmas period.They do put the animals on special after Christmas to try and find them homes.I haven't been there since my daughter got her licence.

I had a little bit of rain here today and it seems to be clear now.

I am going into the big town tomorrow and try and do some Christmas shopping.

Your son is brave putting his hand up and talking about his fears! That's really impressive. I didn't think to ask how to keep the light covers clear on the car - they said it's from the sun as the car isn't garaged and the plastic covers craze and fog, so I don't know that anything can be done... at least they are nice and clear now I guess. Yes it sure cost a bit to have them cleaned! At least the rego is through now, that's the main thing.

We have this hot muggy overcast weather day after day but no rain. I am recovering from a stomach bug so taking things quietly. My neighbours have come into an inheritance of $90,000 which means they now have too much money to stay in public housing - they are looking to purchase in a portable home park - I have told them to get advice about this, since the home would be a depreciating asset, and they have to rent the land - I have googled around and there are warnings about if the park closes or is sold, ongoing site fees, fees for maintenace etc. I don't know if there is some way they could put twenty thousand away somewhere - they are permitted 50,000 dollars in their bank account before Housing says they are no longer eligible. Anyway that's their problem - they are pleasant people in their 40s, unable to work due to mental health issues. I think they should see a financial advisor Mark. Anyway, not my business but it seems a shame they are thrown out of Housing because of the money her mother has left in her will.

Hi Hanna my son I think just like talking.He is not shy like my daughter.Both totally different to each other.

Tomorrow morning I will be setting up the hall for my sons graduation for tomorrow night.It is a Aussie themed one with hum leaves and Koalas.

My car is garaged which helps to look after it.My daughter can garage hers to when she is here.When she is at her mother's she puts a cover over it.

I spent half the day in town today.My legs are sore and tired. I can't stand up for long periods these days.

It will be a big day tomorrow and busy weekend coming up.

I'm sorry I am late in replying to you - I've been sick with a virus so couldn't do much yesterday. Is it tomorrow (Saturday)that you are setting up the hall and having your son's graduation? I hope it all goes really well for you - you'll have to tell me about it - a proud time for your son!

It's sad how much I don't see or talk to the neighbours here so much now little Sam is gone - I think he was a connection as he used to trot around saying hello to them all, and they would ask after him - he liked my neighbour's husband and used to stand at their screen door looking in at them when they had it open on a warm evening - it was really funny! They said they miss him as he was fun around the place. I find home very silent and empty still without him. I will have to look for another doggie in the New Year.

I got a letter today to say I have an inspection of my unit in a couple of weeks - I always dislike that, I like my privacy and I don't like someone I don't know coming in and checking on everything! I try to put anything private out of sight, but it's unpleasant.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your son's graduation Mark - I hope it all goes well, is your daughter going too? I hope you all have a fantastic time and do let me know how it all goes! You'll be a proud Dad!
