Tired of fighting this battle.

Beaser
Community Member

I hope im ok to post as ive posted so often on other  forums  but im feeling very desperate lately.

Im just so tired of fighting. I left a job i was in for many years last year. I have since had some part time work that didnt work out.  Im lonely and going broke.  I was desperate and called triple o last week only to be left to my own devices again. I may be going into a facility called parc a non acute inpatient service but that thought scares me. I dont know how much more i can endure. I hope every one is well and thank you for reading      Brett

Hi ER

I hope you managed the heat ok ,it was pretty uncomfortable here i must admit but was indoors for the most part. I do have a split system but i only use it sparingly as i find the breeze from a fan better.   Its funny i remember as a kid as family we just had a pretty basic fan for all of us but it kept us happy.

Im sorry youre depression has kicked in a bit i hope you managed to get some solid sleep.   You know i dont think extreme heat is good for depression/anxiety it feels a bit isolating in a way.

Its good your going to your friends and a stop over at a caravan park sounds nice too.

Im sure your friends and there little girl will be great company for you.  And tha cat too.

Take care and stay safe on the roads.

Beaser.

Dear Beaser,

Thank you so kindly ☺️ Yes, I’m off today to drive to the caravan park and then Perth the next day (when it will be 41 🥵). I do look forward to spending time with the cat. We have afternoon naps together and she is lovely company. And it is so good to see my friend and her little girl 🥰

Our family was the same. We just had one small floor fan but we seemed to all get through it ok. I remember we’d all just flake out in front of the cricket during the summer holidays. Dad would have time off work then. We’d have the curtains closed to keep out the heat. But in Perth you often get an afternoon sea breeze, so then we would open everything up and let it in. I agree that a fan can be nicer than aircon somehow. I find having a cold shower is great too.

I do understand what you mean about how the heat can be a bit isolating. I think you feel you can’t move around as easily in the heat and you can feel a bit confined. Last time when I was in the city I did go and spend some time in a shopping centre and so I was around other people for a bit.

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts Beaser. How are you this week? I hope it is a lovely day for you.

Sending you a hug 🤗

Hi ER

I hope your trip to Perth has been a good one and you've got to to spend time with your favorite cat and friends.   I visited Perth many years ago and remember it as such a nice city . We stayed by the Swan river .   I also played footy with a couple of guys who came over from Wagin in the wheat belt .

They were good guys real country fellas.

I did my shift at the hospital yesterday it went well , pretty busy at times , i think a lot of services are back on line after Christmas.

Hope to hear all is well for you .

Beaser

Hello dear Beaser,

Yes, all is well and I’m resting with the cat. It’s very hot here but doing ok. I had a lovely stop at the caravan park in a town on the way here. I met some nice people down at the estuary there who were walking their dogs and a lot were crabbing, catching blue swimmer crabs. I had a really nice time with my friend and her little girl yesterday afternoon.

The Swan river is lovely and I’m glad you got to stay next to it. I know Wagin and I stayed at Dumbleyung a few years ago which is right near it. I always remember the giant ram from Wagin from when we passed through there when I was a kid. I love the Wheatbelt actually and have explored a few towns around there. It’s great you got to play footy with the country fellas. My dad played footy firstly in the Goldfields and then in the south-west and Wheatbelt in his younger years.

I’m glad your hospital shift went well. I imagine it is getting busier again now as the year really starts up.

I really hope the week is going well for you Beaser and it’s not too hot. Wishing you a lovely day.

Hugs,

ER

Hi ER.

Hoping your trip has gone well.  Its great to see people out enjoying themselves walking dogs and crabbing and all those great things.  Ive never done the crabbing before but people say they are great to catch and have a feed of.

We had some serious rain here last night 30mm in my rain gauge it was getting so dry so it was very welcome.  Some also over the fire areas too .   Hopefully ease the pressure there a bit.

Hope your well always good to chat.

Brett x .

Hi Beaser,

I’m enjoying my stay here and I’ve just been having morning cuddle time with the cat. She’s a very affectionate cat who likes pats and cuddles. I’m about to get up and make an omelette for breakfast. I’ve really enjoyed spending time with my friends and their little girl. They are actually in the unit next to me. The one I’m in is her mum’s unit and that’s who I’m petsitting for. Last night I was reading a bedtime story for their little one to help her get to sleep. It’s just nice being around lovely people, a delightful toddler and a fluffy cat with a gentle nature.

How have you been Beaser? I hope you had a nice weekend. That’s fantastic about the rain. 30mm is a fair bit. Yes, hopefully that will help with the fires.

I’ve never been crabbing before either. Quite a few kids were pulling up the crab pots too. I had to be careful not to trip over ropes attached to the pots that were tied across the boardwalk in the estuary. There were plenty of fish schooling and they’d break the surface now and then as they swam about. Lots of water birds too.

I hope today is a lovely day for you Beaser.

Take care and best wishes,

ER

Hi ER

Im glad your having a great time away it sounds relaxing and great to be around good people and your friendly cat.     Its so good to hear of kids getting out crabbing and doing all those outdoor things nothing better than seeing kids away from the screens.

As a kid i did a lot of yabbying , i think thay call them marin in WA, that and fishing i was very much an out door kid.    My dad  was a train driver and the railway yard was pretty much our playground . It was like a big family and all the railway people looked out for us kids at the time . I look back at those days and they were the best care free times.

My weekend went pretty quiet but thats ok .

Hope to hear your going ok      Beaser.

Dear Beaser,

Yes, it’s wonderful to see the kids active in the outdoors. They seemed to be really enjoying the crabbing. They were doing the right thing and measuring the size of each crab and putting them back if they weren’t the allowed catch size. That’s great you did the yabbying as a kid. Yes, we have marron here in WA. A town I often visit has them in the river and you can see them moving about. I tasted marron as a kid and it was very tasty from memory.

That’s lovely how the railway people were like a big family that looked out for you. It’s great you had that carefree time and the railway yard was a big playground. My dad had wanted to be a train driver when he was a kid but he became a postman instead. He loved trains all his life though. He said he used to run to see the train whenever it came into his town. He also remembers taking the train to Perth and Esperance when he was very small with his uncle. Back in those days there were many more passenger trains between towns but there are very few now. Mostly they are freight for the agricultural and mining industries now.

It’s great you had an active outdoor childhood. I am grateful we had a lot of freedom then and we could go roaming on our bikes and make cubbies in the local bushland. These days parents worry a lot more about their kids and they don’t necessarily have the same freedom to go off and explore. But we could go off without an adult for a few hours and they just let us back then. I wonder if that’s partly why I like still like going on nature walks now and exploring.

It’s early here and the sun will be up shortly. I can hear fluffy cat munching her biscuits. There’s a strong easterly wind blowing which is typical on a Perth day when it’s going to be hot. The good thing is we usually get a south-westerly to westerly sea breeze in the afternoons on a hot day. I will be heading south today on my way home, stopping to stay at a caravan park again on the way.

Wising you a lovely day Beaser.

Kind wishes,

ER

Hi ER

Hope you had a safe trip home and enjoyed your stopover at the caravan park.

I enjoyed similar things as a kid , always fishing , rabbiting and away somewhere on our pushbikes.

I can understand how parents may worry more about there kids nowadays.   They certainly face different challenges but its a shame they miss the things we enjoyed.

I did my shift at the hospital yesterday it went well .

Its certainly been a hot summer here and a lot of fires unfortunately .  Its very uncomfortable for people in the west of the state as its been covered in smoke for many weeks.

Hope you have a happy and peaceful day     Beaser.

Hi Beaser,

Sorry, I’m just seeing this message now as it didn’t show up in my notifications.

I was very tired on Tuesday getting to the caravan park, but I had a rest once there. Then I went for a walk by the river and there were lots of mosquitoes, but I still managed to enjoy the scenery and sunset. It was still pretty warm there. Then yesterday morning I had a brief but nice walk too at an inlet with a boardwalk. I then stopped at one more place for a rest before getting home. It was really good to take my time.

I’m glad you had those outdoor experiences. When you mentioned the rabbiting I recalled being on my uncle’s farm as a kid. My older cousins would go out rabbiting with the rifle. We weren’t allowed to go, only when they were spotlighting but not shooting. I remember watching my cousin skin a rabbit and it was part of Christmas dinner.

Yes, I understand parents being protective nowadays, but I’m grateful we had a fair bit of freedom to roam around.

I’m glad that your shift at the hospital went well.

Yes, the fires in western Victoria have been going a while. It would be great for more extended heavy rain to come along and put them out. I feel for the people there as it must be hard with the smoke after weeks of it plus the uncertainty.

I hope you have a happy day Beaser. Take good care,

ER
