Hi everyone
I hope you're staying well today.
Who else likes gardening? I would love to connect with people here who are happy to share their gardening adventures.
For me I know that gardening helped heal my soul during tough times. I hope it will again.
Then with other things going on, it became a jungle.
I'm part way into rediscovering it again and doing A LOT of hard yakka atm, when I am motivated.
I have new dreams and ideas to put into the many bare places, as I remove thickets of lantana etc. This will all be on a tight budget and I'm ok with that.
I want to create a peaceful place where I can be.
I would like to grow food again (tell 'er she's dreamin' atm lol).
I would like to re-establish my worm farms and compost heaps.
Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year in the garden.
I'm 'alone' in my gardening journey and would love to share and hear about other's gardening antics. Hopefully we can troubleshoot any issues in our gardens and talk about any healing we're feeling too. There's a lot of knowledge we can share. I hope this thread can brighten your day!

Hi Cee123,
Lovely to hear you enjoy gardening too. I can totally relate. Being in the garden helps my state of mind even if all I do is walk around and notice things like new growth or a plant needing some attention. There’s always something to see and do and it’s rewarding work.
Happy gardening adventures!

Hey BB gardeners, nice to read back on all the chatting and possible cures AND some stuff to eat too.... well done rx you're a green thumb there lol.
Welcome to our productive Gardening thread Cee123!
So lovely of you to join us. 🌴🍀🌺
Yep well it's flooding here everywhere. I watched lakes appear in flat ground at an event on Saturday... wow was that incredible to watch.
Still more floods even through the downstairs storey of our home, and through our kitchen ceiling, our loungeroom.... our water tanks were full BEFORE this rain event... it's lasting days and days.
FUN!
Tha garden is ummm washing away lol.
My eldest daughter is flooded in. She's fine with it. They still have electricity and are helping the homes that don't.
My surviving plants are growing into PREHISTORIC sizes omg, never seen them looking anything like this. Although my beautiful bubby oranges are dropping off the tree now... somewhat exploding.
The wettest Summer here... always misty rain and barely a clear sunny day...
Now more rain! Wow huh... no more rain dances for a while PLEASE.
We're on high ground too but yeah it's still racing down our streets and driveways etc.
Be safe everyone
Love EM

Hey all,
Yeah the devastation is starting to show now too. So many animals washed away up here. Houses flooded, businesses affected, landslips everywhere. It's hard.
The chooks go to roost early with these cloudy/rainy days, sitting on there perches very wet and disgruntled. One day we left them in the shed for most of the day, it was too wet. If there's a break tho they are out and about, not happy tho, now that the supply of flood worms have disappeared.
A friend had to walk through her flooded backyard to rescue her chooks before their chook house got flooded- ended up with spiders in her hair! All the creatures trying to find dry land...Sounds like a bible story....
Stay safe Em and everyone, hope things ease soon,
Cheers,
J*

Hey J* and everyone
My chooks "moved in" to our house years ago!
They live in the inside laundry lol... so they come and go as they please through the window.
They've barely left their roosts but pop out to under the eave for some food and right back in again!
A heard 10th hand (bec I don't listen to news or weather reports etc) that we're supposed to have a break and a sunny day tomorrow... hmm.
Then back to it again.
We'll see I guess!
A few ppl didn't turn up to work yesterday bec of floodwaters.
The Uni is still closed, but as stupid as it was to build it in a swamp area, there you go, nature is reclaiming herself.
I haven't heard a train for a while, so possibly tracks are unstable (as also happens lots in these events).
I heard the NSW Govt are giving out $1000 per adult and $400 per child for ppl who've had immense damage to their homes?? It was on the radio yesterday on my way to work.
So all we can do is try to stay safe.
Not much of a gardening post lol. Our garden is not on the priority list atm lol.
Love EM

Hi all,
Wow I didn't know frangipani's could be difficult- have still got four in our yard, after removing a few to make room for other plants/trees, never had a problem. Plenty of light tho.
Lighter rain today. School is meant to be back tmw for us, forecast of some sun 🙂
Em, yes the govt payment is for anyone who has had more than $20,000 worth of damage. Someone I know called and passed the msg on to free up the lines. A lot of damage for a small payment, but at least it could help with things like temp.accommodation, and feed for livestock. So hard, becos around here, the ppl most affected by bush fires last year are now being flooded, or cut off. The community is once again rallying with food and bedding etc.
Cabbage seedlings don't seem to mind lots of water!
Cheers,
J*
