Who else likes gardening?

Hi everyone

I hope you're staying well today.

Who else likes gardening? I would love to connect with people here who are happy to share their gardening adventures.

For me I know that gardening helped heal my soul during tough times. I hope it will again.
Then with other things going on, it became a jungle.
I'm part way into rediscovering it again and doing A LOT of hard yakka atm, when I am motivated.

I have new dreams and ideas to put into the many bare places, as I remove thickets of lantana etc. This will all be on a tight budget and I'm ok with that.

I want to create a peaceful place where I can be.
I would like to grow food again (tell 'er she's dreamin' atm lol).
I would like to re-establish my worm farms and compost heaps.
Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year in the garden.

I'm 'alone' in my gardening journey and would love to share and hear about other's gardening antics. Hopefully we can troubleshoot any issues in our gardens and talk about any healing we're feeling too. There's a lot of knowledge we can share. I hope this thread can brighten your day!

my roses have the dreaded blight urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh haha.

2 of my roses are kinda struggling a bit - I don't think they like being in pots. Oh well, live and learn!.

The couple of weeks of humidity didn't go down so well either haha.

Hi Gambit rose blight is basically a fugal disease and yes humid conditions and wet weather can cause it.
Try and cut up the effected areas a discard and you can try a baking soda spray.1 teaspoon of baking soda mixed in 1 litre of water with a squirt of dish washing liquid and spray on the effected plants.

I'll try that!

Thanks mark!

Hi all,

My littel seedlings were sitting in huge pools of water in their garden beds yesterday- tho they seem ok today. The rain is giving us a break and the sun has even been out. Yay!

We shall see if they survive.

Cheers,

Jstar I think your seedlings will be ok.A good soaking is what they need when you first plant them and they will take off.I wish I had some in.

Well, we were walking past the tomatoes yesterday and low and behold, there was one red tomato, 1 , among 100s or l dunno how many all green ones. He isn't ready but it is red , took it inside to celebrate.

Think your right about the round pumpkins to match , they seem to be fizzling. Found some more of the long shape though , they're powering along.

You're definitely not alone. I love gardening.. It's just the being outside and amongst nature. It helps my mind. It's calming. It's therapeutic. Helps me to feel more at peace within myself. It's not the hardest thing to do either, imo, which is why I can't understand these people who don't take care of their yards, won't clean up the weeds or mow the lawn etc. I love doing that stuff.

Hi all,

CeemMowing lawns is very therapeutic apparently! It s the smell of fresh cut grass...

Still raining....Not sure if a week of rain is exactly what the plant Dr orders for my seedlings mark...🤔😆

They're raised garden beds too!

Still better too wet than too dry. Tho I'll not be saying that to all the ppl with flood damage atm.... This part of Oz has been hit hard, last summer bush fires, then covid, now floods. Just guiltily glad we live on a hill.....And have a big bag of flour in the pantry......

Cheers,

J*

Hi Mark,

So true, I remember the floods one after another which hit Qld ...couple years ago? And there's been a bad run of cyclones too hey.

It certainly is extreme weather conditions we are facing, almost continually.

I am surprised to hear you're still declarde in a drought- hope it's breaking now.

Cheers,
