What is your biggest (non mental health condition) achievement?

Was watching, "The Voice" last night and there was a young lass who didn't leave the house for two years because of panic attacks, how here she is on National TV singing in front of four judges.

I sat back and thought that even if no one turns around and picks her, she has already won - what a brilliant achievement that was.

What is your biggest achievement?

Mine is overcoming PTSD and functioning quite well but the mental health conditions aside, I would have to say completing my first marathon. A pure punishment of the mind and body and I completed this in the early days of my recovery when i was quite wounded and struggling.

To be able to push myself to complete it gave me a massive burst of confidence that I can overcome the PTSD beast and get on with life.

Starting New, what a fantastic achievement that is. Well done!

So now that you have smashed that course, what's next? What does a medical terminologist (not sure that is even a word!!) do?

Steph, that is some list you have going there and all as equal to each other.

You now have a tonne of experience in life and have accomplished so much, if you ever fall on hard times again, you can look back at all the super achievements and tell yourself that you one hell of a resilient and strong woman. That will propel your recovery, which of course i hope it never happens as that means you have never fallen on hard times again!!

Thanks for the post - love it!!

Mark.

Hi mark

Medical terminology helps lead into the medical field with better knowledge so into reception jobs or working within like a gp surgery or looking at other courses to do with health

The whole course is based on the terms for different diseases parts of the body and a heap of other things

When learning the terms its actually broken down into 2 three or even four parts with different meanings to form one work and one meaning. That probably makes mo sense lol

And I love that u completed a marathon!!!!

U sound like me in the sense of being strong willed. U have to be if u want to recover.

I remember doing what u did, jogging, jogging & more jogging when I was in a really dark place.... I just wanted to get out of there ( that really dark place).

Now I'm doing more swimming, but I actually jogged today...

It's my new goal actually to jog myself out of the mess I'm in. When I read parts of your story ( I've read a lot of threads) it resonated and inspired me...go you!!

So many/ too many ppl stay in depression or in a mess. I understand its damn hard to come out of but I love those ppl ( like you) that do all in their power to rise above it. It's a high & a victory when achieved & u have life saving tools for others...which I believe is why u r on here...to give that gift of life to others...

Champion!!!!

StartingNew: Yeh that would be a pretty difficult course to do i think. With all the different things that can go pear shaped with health, so much to learn. That is so cool. Hopefully your health studies pay off and you get to do what you want to do.

Steph: Thank you for those awesome words, appreciate it. I feel very fortunate that i was able to recover quite well. Still got a long road ahead but at least I am living, not just surviving but actually living. I remember being in those really dark places and thinking that I needed to do everything i could to get out of this and fortunately for me, i was able to do that. I really want those people who are stuck and feel that they cannot do anything to realise that they can. Takes hard work, application and treatment but they can get better.

You run and swim, ever think of adding cycling to it and doing a triathlon?

Hi marky mark,

I have wanted to cycle ( want tight buns) lol.... But need to invest in a good bike which unfortunately could take some time. I cycle at the gym though...

Hhmmmm a triathlon, food for thought....

I feel the same ATM, anything to get out of it....can I ask how long u used to jog for?

9 names later, your post is proof that no one is alone in their respective journeys.

What ever is going on in someones life, it can almost be guaranteed that someone else is going through it.

One of the reasons why this forum is so awesome, can find other people to relate to.

Hi Mark and all,

we all know that there is so many of us,but yet I/we are so alone!

wouldnt it be great for one day in a social/group/mob, we all had a beacon on to say 'hey I understand! And that's all,)

hope you are well

9 names later, yep that would be so cool. When you think of it with how many Australian's suffer some kind of mental health condition, there would be so many walking around with their beacons flashing and then yes, as per what you say, there would be so many more people who would know that they are not alone.
