Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Did you enjoy the rest of your walk in the forest Eagle Ray?
Cute doggie name Cooper. Our dog was a Maltese/silky terrier who loved running in the rec.
Kookaburras are so unique. One went for our water hose once.
Oh thankyou yes I have finished the 30 days. I am going again, adding something else .
Thankyou so much for sharing your walks as I like reading them

Dear Shell,
Thank you, I did enjoy the rest of my walk the other day. The late afternoon light was lovely in the forest.
I didn’t get a walk today but did walk by the river yesterday. I rested in a favourite secluded spot and saw an emu-wren again, hopping about right next to me.
I’ve seen kookaburras with tiger snakes they’ve caught before, so perhaps the kookaburra that went for your hose thought it was a snake. They seem pretty bold when it comes to what they eat.
That’s great you are doing another challenge! It sounds like you are enjoying and getting great benefit from them.
I hope you had a lovely day today.

Hi Shell, Eagle Ray and to all reading,
I've not dropped by for a while. Have been reading about your walks, your 30 day challenge Shell and always find what it written here to be inspirational.
A couple of mornings ago I had a walk, the colour around me was washed out and seemed without substance, so I ended up taking black and white photos on my phone and really enjoyed the challenge of finding images that suited. I was impressed by the outcome.
Yesterday it was very foggy, visibility must have been extremely poor out on the roads so I kept to the farmer's track. Some of the grasses, trees and bushes were dripping from the condensation.
I could hear the ewes and lambs but could not see them as the fog was so thick. A couple of magpies were like sentinels on the fence posts and took off into the gloom as I approached. Some galahs were hanging out on the fence wire, swinging away. One was upside down and swinging and looked like it was having a great time.
The scarlet robin I saw a couple of times has not reappeared. I will Google for the sound of their song and see if I can recognise it on my next walk to that region.
Today I am driving off to visit family for the day so hope to leave early enough to have a short walk in their region before I visit.

Hi Dools and Shell,
Dools, I love the idea of doing the black and white photos. That’s a great idea in those conditions and I’m so glad they turned out well. As always, I loved your expressive descriptions of what you saw and experienced. I can just imagine hearing those sounds of the ewes and lambs while in a mist. I like the description of the magpies being like sentinels. The galah sounds hilarious! I have seen them do that on power lines swinging round and round on the wire, having so much fun.
I haven’t ventured out in recent days. But I’ve been looking at photo images I’ve taken recently and ones from a couple of years ago. So I sort of felt like I was exploring places virtually. I was seeing country towns and rural areas I’ve visited.

Hi Eagle Ray, Shell and all reading,
I went out for a walk yesterday, walked for 1/2 an hour and was exhausted and still had to get home again! It was drizzling with a light rain, so I turned my back to the drizzle for a while, stood and took in the view then proceeded home again.
One paddock has a canola crop which is starting to flower. I'm not sure what the crop is in the paddock across the road from that one, maybe peas. There is a small sheep yard as well with old railway sleepers used for the fences and rusted old relics of gates.
I saw a few magpies and some lovely parrots with blue on their wings, they flew past rather quickly. I stood to watch some birds the size of sparrows flittering about in a bush.
The drizzle was only light and looked impressive in the distance above the rolling hills and paddocks.
I'll try to go out for a walk this morning. Even a shorter one.
Wishing you all a good day.

Hi All,
Out for another walk this morning. It was zero degrees. Might not have been so good for my cold or sinus issues but helped my mental health.
I saw 3 kangaroos in a canola crop, not sure the farmer would enjoy seeing 3 large roos bound through his crop! It is amazing the distance they can travel in one hop.
The traffic on the road was almost constant, I had chosen that particular road to walk along as it provided the most morning sun to help warm me up as I am walking. Made it a little hard to hear birds. I did see some magpies, ducks on a dam and a few galahs as well.
It was nice to get out for a walk.

Those walks sound lovely Dools. I’ve noticed the canola crops coming out with the bright yellow. It sounds like it was very cold this morning but I’m glad you still got benefit from going out. On my recent trip there were frosts and one morning the ice was so caked on my car windscreen I had to get some warm water to get it off. I’m heading off tomorrow on another road trip. I‘ll try and post about a few walks along the way where I have reception.
I hope you are enjoying some nice walks too Shell if you have been out lately.

Hope you feel better soon Mrs D. I pour a tiny amount of sweet almond oil with a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil into the palm of my hand ,then apply it on my neck and upper chest at night for any congestion.
I enjoyed reading about your recent walks too. I have never seen a canola crop .
Hope you have a restful time away on your next trip Eagle Ray

Thankyou Eagle Ray I am simply adding another thing onto the previous challenge. Eating greens. I was thinking to add more but it seemed overwhelming doing that.
I have been walking everyday either around the rec, along the breakwall and around the neighbourhood.
I was thankfull I walked for over 2 hours the other day with my sister. Around the park. The time seems to go quicker when we are chatting.
