Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

There was one home that was a challenge to know where to look. So much happening there. There was a human sized santa on the two story verandah. Lights in close rows on the roof. A few blown up decorations. One blown up one was a tiny caravan with a Santa at the door. Plus their was so much more... Cannot even remember it all. They did have grass in the lawn, but you could hardly see it. Incredible amount of work in putting up all their lights.
It was kinda of refreshing walking out... There was a bit of a breeze. I think we set of dogs barking in 1 whole street. One barked at us, then more chimed in it seemed.
We looked at more houses with lights as we walked around

It can be good to wander around a supermarket. Especially on a hot day near the freezer section. Even better if there a only a few people.
Are you able to go swimming Mrs D, maybe just float for a while nice and calm in the water... Maybe to help with the stress and all?

Hi Shelll,
I'm convincing myself a trip to the beach is going to be well worth the drive today!
I need to renew and pre pay my membership for the pool. Maybe I can do that on my way home from the beach!
This morning I took a cup of tea outside at 1/4 to 6 and watched the sun rise. Will save my energy for a walk on the beach later.
All the best from Dools

Hi Shelll and All,
I thought I had posted here about my walk on the beach. Maybe I am dreaming and just thought I had written about it. Maybe it has disappeared somehow?
Today I am catching up with my sister in the afternoon. We will be going for a walk in her region, maybe in a pine forest.

Hello
I went walking through a small grassy park. Then crossed over the road and headed towards the yaght club. I didnt go into the club itself, just walked close to the lake around it. The carpark had a few cars, and also all these racks a couple of levels high. On the racks were boats. Like small tinnys (not sure if that is what they are called). But tiny boats anyway.
Later on I walked on a beach, I hardly ever walk on. Walked through the water some and got splashed by a wave. It felt nice and cool the water. I noticed there were quite a lot of shells on this beach. I didn't pick up any as I had nothing to carry them in. I was feeling pretty tired and sad but still glad I walked.

The scent of pine trees can be so beautiful and fresh smelling. I really hope you enjoyed catching up with your sister and walking.
Yeah don't know what happened to your recount of your beach walk. Not to worry

Hi Shelll,
My sister and I had a lovely walk again yesterday in a region close to where she lives. We wandered through a pine forest, and yes the smell was amazing. I picked up a collection of pine cones as well to put in a basket in the lounge room near the Christmas tree.
We wandered up and down little hills and walked through a section of native scrub as well. We disturbed a family of kangaroos, the male was huge! Further on we saw 3 emus. The soon disappeared into the tall wild oats.
Each corner gave us a different view. In one area the old pine trees had all been removed and young ones a metre high and less were growing. We could se the hills in the distance.
It was a lovely walk.
Cheers to you and all reading.
