Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Hi Everyone,
My sister and I had a lovely walk in a National Park. Saw some kangaroos.
Have been doing a lot of weeding.
Would like to drive to the beach today and go for a walk, that would cheer me up!

So glad you have a sister to walk with. Did you get the opportunity to drive and walk out at the beach?
Now I did, but I got absolutely drenched.

Hi Shell and All,
No, I didn't get to the beach. I was quite tired and didn't feel able to drive that far. I did drive to a conservation park 1/2 hour from us. It is still so wonderfully green there, the gum trees are beautiful and there is a large pond of water there at present which seemed to be full of frogs croaking away quite loudly.
I heard a lot of birds also. It was tranquil and calming there. Had a couple of really rude people at work that threw me on the weekend. I try to let their nastiness go but it seems to linger in my mind.
This morning I am going to the pool for a bit of hydrotherapy and might garden for a while after work.
Hope everyone has an okay kind of day.

Ah maybe you will be able to get out to the beach very soon. The conversation park sounded quite restful. Maybe a calming place for you Mrs D. Can you go there more often? Even the sounds you heard sound restful.
I am sorry about the rude people

I love walking, hiking actually. Just going somewhere into wilderness... where there is only me, my hiking boots and the nature. No cars, no industry, no people.
The other weekend I took my girls hiking on one of local trails. We managed 12 km. It was blissful.

Hi Shell, david'n'goliath, Elizabeth, gucia6 and All,
I'm hoping for a walk later today.
Like gucia, I like to walk in an area where it is quiet so my soul can find rest and I feel restored.
Our local beaches are in the city and I can usually hear cars while there and other city noises unless it is windy and the waves are louder than the traffic noise. We have had a lot of sand carting on our beaches as well. The trucks roaring up and down the beaches are not very calming!
I will see where I end up for a walk today. It is supposed to be raining later.
