Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Hello
Today I did more pruning of these flowering ash trees along our driveway. I am not sure if I am doing it right or not. Hopefully I have. It involved stretching up to clip off the old dead branches. Then bending to pick up the fallen branches.
I also went walking again tonight with my son. A walk around the neighbourhood.

I went bike riding around the block twice. I saw one other person walking on the opposite side of the road. He said hello to me, so I said hello back. I heard that noise that the screeching birds make. I heard a dog barking, guessing it was a little one. The bark was more like a yap... yap.. yap. I also saw a fluffy black and white dog, maybe a border collie just standing on his driveway looking out.
I also spotted a timber framed mirror leaning against someone's fence. Nice looking mirror too. And every now and then looked at people's gardens. It was very quite out.

Yesterday I went walking with my sister.
It was lovely to get out.
We saw some kangaroos, lots of water and heard some birds singing.

That's good that you had the opportunity to visit and walk with your sister. Did you enjoy your visit with her Mrs D?
Today I walked to our local train station and back. I felt encouraged as I jogged up the train station steps. Reason being, it showed me that I am becoming fitter. Which is a goal of mine.
Hopefully I will be able to get on out to the beach again and walk on Breakwall Path soon. That area is one of my "happy places" . I am missing the ocean air and the actual driving on out there. It is just out of the area I am restricted to due to the new current lockdowns.
Tomorrow I aim aiming to walk around the rec area near me.

Hi Shelley and All,
I'm so sorry to read the beach area is out of your restriction zone at the moment. I hope you can find some other places to walk that you will enjoy. Congratulations on recognising your increased fitness!
Yes, I did enjoy the time with my sister. We were in a beautiful park.
Today I have another psychologist appointment in a town an hour's drive away. There is a nice park close by so I will have a walk there before the appointment. I need to do the grocery shopping after. I usually like a short walk after the appointment to help clear my head.
If my mind is too scrambled, it might be interesting to see what I buy when grocery shopping! It might be all chocolates, cakes and biscuits! Ha. Ha.
Thinking of you Shelley. Cheers to you and all reading from Dools

Totally relate to the scrambled mind. Not many words today. Don't have a good rapport with people (or whatever that word is) I want to. But often find it hard. Hate that weakness in me. It makes it hard to connect to others.
Went for a bike ride

Hi dear Shelley,
I sometimes find the more I try to connect with people and have a chat, the more I struggle with the words I want to say.
Some days it feels like the mind is so scrambled, my mind is thinking one thing and my tongue seems to be coming up with it's own conversation! How amazing and confusing is that! Ha. Ha.
I'm not making light of your situation at all Shelley. I'm sharing my own struggles with communicating at times.
I did go for a lovely walk in the park yesterday. I was feeling a bit lost on the trail, not sure I would do the loop in time for the appointment! At least I know if I go back that way I will need at least an hour to do the complete walk and yes it will return me to the car park!
One kangaroo was having a snooze under a tree and looked at me as though it was annoyed I had disturbed it. I saw some pretty wild flowers and a few I believe may have been orchids...or a very pretty weed!
I really appreciate all of your "chats" here Shelley! Hope you get to have another bike ride! Regards to you from Dools

Oh how cute that kangaroo Mrs D. Did you take a photo of him?
Thankyou for sharing your struggles with communication. Guessing you are saying the harder you try to communicate... the less you feel relaxed and words just don't flow as easy. Mmm yeah maybe?? I am like this in real life away from BB. I mostly talk when I am relaxed, know the person cares about me and like no fear of rejection. There are a couple of people in my life like that. Everyone else ah nope.
You know I really do like the sound of that kangaroo. I am sort of imagining its face. So glad you have somewhere lovely to walk now. You are free,.. not confined to your home.
And yes I went for another bike ride. Around the block. I could smell the scent of lit fireplaces. I do like that scent. It felt good to move. The mirror was still against the fence, I noticed. It does look pretty weird like that.
Hope you are ok after your appointment and all

Hello
My walk today was in a very large park. A park I have never been to before. Quite hilly in sections. With little bridges and steps. And lots of Australian trees and other shurbs growing. And even a gazebo type structure. A large hexagon shape with a high roof. And when we spoke it echoed so beautiful like. My sister sung a few notes and that sounded great in there.
We walked quite slow as we were looking at the small trees and other foliage searching for stems of leaves and flowers to make a bouquet. We ended up making one each. My sister is learning floristry, so she was showing me how to arrange these stems in a spiral.
How large spiral bouquets were getting hard to hold. So we ended up tieing our shoelaces around each posie bouquet
So yeah this walk was different to over walks I have been on.
