Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Oh dear Golden , I want so much for you to feel alive. I like the cold air on my face for the same reason. Wakes your body up somehow and it does make you feel alive. And refreshes you too. So much wish I could help you in some way.
Do you have anyone that could go with you for even a short walk? I am guessing you need to walk from your car to inside your place. And that is something. You could look around and see what you could notice? Plants, feel the sunshine, ants, feeling of any breeze, scents of anything.

thanks Shell 🙂 I hope you had a nice weekend. I have not left the bed since my Thurs apt. Home in bed Fri, Sat, Sun.. it is really getting me sad, hopeless with myself. Will try my very best to get out tomorrow. No, I have no-one unfortunately. But hoping to get a dog - they are a lot of money though. I love what you say about looking around and noticing - I know when I do that I feel a bit brighter. I hope you are feeling a bit brighter yourself day by day 🙂

Oh getting a dog sounds like a great idea Golden. Someone to love and talk to even. And love you back. And perhaps after a while when you get more energy take them for a walk. Some people give away their pets to good homes, for all sorts of reasons. People that will love them. Just maybe there are some in your area.
It's a really good idea actually.
And yes I am feeling a bit brighter. I haven't been for a walk myself today.
You have a window near your bed, maybe you could look out of that and notice things around you.

Since January I have walked.
345 Km
492,260 steps
Yet tonight I am still standing here, where I was before, 5 months later...kind of funny

Hello Shell, Golden and Everyone reading,
I try to go for a walk every day. Some walks are longer than others.
Some days I like to be out to watch the sunrise.
On Mother's Day morning it was really foggy. I drove to a National Park and had a walk amongst the trees and bushes. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I saw quite a few kangaroos.
Later today I am heading to the beach for a walk.
A family member has recently moved house nearer a river, so I am looking forward to finding walks in that region as well when I go there to visit.

Oh Mrs D, its so nice to see your name pop up. I have not seen it for a while. I hope you have been getting on ok.
It is so good you will be walking on the beach, as I know you really like it. And it can be your happy place.
I do hope you are ok there. The walk in the national park sounds very peaceful.
