*Trigger warning* Eating for Health and Wellness

I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.

Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )

I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.

So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

I hope your back gets better too Grandy!

Oh ice cream- I'm a sucker for blue ribbon ice cream. I love the cornettos as well. I've never tried those vegan ones you speak of Shell but they sound nice.

I just ate normally today...I eat for fat loss and it doesn't seem to work... probably bcas I get frustrated and don't stick with it but then I feel hungry/empty. God help me.

Will you tell me more about the empty feeling that you feel MM? Just interested to see whether it is the same as me is all. The empty as in no physical nourishing food or is it an emotional empty feeling?

Ending up eating 2 nectarines and 2 slices of seeded toast with vegemite between 10pm and midnight. Also sipped on a dandelion leaf tea. My body does not feel nourished at all from the junk. Hopefully I will take better care of myself in the morning.

Hello Shelly, Magic and readers...🤗..

Firstly Shelly, I’m sorry if I offended you by saying I eat meat...I know your a vegan...and forgot when I wrote out my post...please forgive me..

Thank you both for your well wishes on my recovery..which I’m pleased to say is going well....No holding me down with physical pain...I think I got used to it through the years...emotionally and mental pain is so much different...I think at times by having something we know isn’t really good for us but tastes yummy is in a way giving our inner child some care and compassionate...So please don’t be hard on yourselves...and let the adult you..be okay with that..Our inner child is or can be very controlling to us at times..and if we fight it...The more loud and stubborn it becomes for attention...A little treat usually quietens it😁.

I didn’t have the salad with quinoa in it yet...I will have it tonight...I like the super food salad the best..full of seeds and berries with salad greens...yummy...

I hope you all have a great day today..The sun is shining here today...hopefully I can soak up some sun this afternoon...it’s just as important to nourish our souls as it is our bodies...

Hugs to you all with my care ..

Grandy..

No sorry needed Grandy. I am not offended. I don't see myself as a vegan. I simply eat mostly plants for my own personal health reasons. So please feel free to mention chicken, meat etc. I even cook for 2 people in my family who choose to eat beef, chicken, eggs etc.

I made baked beans for lunch today. So yummy. I served it with smashed avocado on seeded toast. It was quite filling.

The baked beans had:

Onion, garlic, drained canned cannelloni beans, canned tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, cumin, tamari, pepper, coconut sugar and a stockcube.

It was so yummy with the avocado. And it felt nourishing inside of me

I'm still doing my weight loss competition and was a little apprehensive about hearing we are going to all you can eat buffet for my uncle's birthday but I had no breakfast and stuck to salad, seafood, vegies, fruit, and did have some desert. All I ate for dinner was some ham. Pretty pleased with myself.

How many months in your weight loss competition MM?

I know I have put on weight over the last few months. Still been struggling with chocolate. I so much want to be a healthy weight. I don't like carrying around fat. I just don't like the fumpy feeling of it.

Those buffets can be challenging for sure. You did pretty good though. Plenty of vegetables are always super nutritious as is loads of fresh vegetable salads. They can make the plate look beautiful too with all the colours.

I bought more time so the weight loss comp is 24 months. I have a lot to lose and the fat isn't moving with eating alone. I really have to do more exercise I think.

I don't like excessive fat on my body either. If only it came of as easily as the first 17 kg I lost did. Now I'm just stuck.

I think a lot of woman have chocolate as a weakness. I recently ate Toblerone and enjoyed it.

We had two boxes of Hello fresh delivered so we've been cooking their meals. They're pretty good. Today I made roast chicken, carrots, mashed potato, prosciutto and kale cooked in a creamy sauce.

I decided to go on a challenge for 5 days. I have already completed 1 day so far. I feel pretty full at the moment. So I am thinking like last year I wasn't eating enough at each meal... so maybe that is why I struggled so much with junk food.

So...

Breakfast : fresh cherries and a plum

Lunch: 2 pieces of wholegrain toast with smashed avocado, then I placed chickpeas, cherry tomatoes and basil in it

Dinner: was a meal called a gada bowl or something. Very yummy. Cooked up quinoa and tofu, In my bowl I had that plus cos lettuce, red capsicum, cucumber, purple cabbage and corriander. Then a dressing of peanut butter, maple syrup, lime and tamari. So very yum and so very colourful my gada bowl. All those fresh colours made it look so appetising. I also sprinkled a bit of red balsamic vinegar on the lettuce.

I made enough of the gada bowl for lunch tomorrow.

This challenge was put out by someone else. I cannot remember her name. But she has the challenge online, where you can download and print it off. She is also doing it live on Instagram.

I think these kind of challenges suit me. I have done a few before. There is no making of decisions, is all layed out for you.

I am really aiming and hoping to stick to it
