I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

Thanks Sleepy.
And Grandy it does make a nice pop pop popping sound in a pan. The popcorn. A bit of a ping tinny sound. You can pop the corn without oil in the air popper thingy.
So far today I have eaten 2 red plums. Drank some coconut water. And I did make another soup. The soup seems to be best for me at the moment. It is easy to make, lasts several days. And has red spilt lentils plus lots of vegetables.
Soup
1/3 cup red split lentils
1 can of diced tomatoes (no added salt)
1 large diced onion
2 garlic cloves crushed
Sweet potato diced
Cauliflower cut up in small pieces
Frozen peas and cut up frozen green beans. Frozen corn
Finely shredded spinach
1 diced mushroom (just wanted to try that)
Some ground cumin and smoked paprika and onion powder to taste
Massell "beef" stock cubes to taste

Hi Guys,
Hope you're all well.
I work with dietitians and one advised me that you should avoid products with more than 7.5g of sugar per 100g. This is a great rule of thumb for people wanting to stay health and keep the kilos off.
To loss weight I was also told about the egg diet, where you have porridge for breakfast, 3 boiled eggs and a piece of fruit for lunch and finally three boil eggs and steamed veggies for dinner. I've personally tried this diet and it did wonders.
Regards,
CC

I do like lentils...and other dried beans that needs to be soaked, washed and then cook...
The egg diet sounds good Calm Cat...I do like eggs..but preferred poached..with salt and pepper on top...
Grandy..

someone gave me a really good bread and i've been eating that in the mornings... i need to ask which one it is
not heavy or gross, a full unsliced loaf and it makes me happy to cut off a slice in the morning which i have been doing every day
Had some chicken soup last night which was beautiful and some roasted potatoes
during the day had a nice sandwich, yoghurt, hot chocolate and a few plums
I'm enjoying also those lighter peaches at the moment - clingstone.

Hello Sleepy
There is something homey about cutting a slice of bread off a full unsliced loaf. Of course it smells real good too. I have not eaten any bread the last couple of days and my tummy feels so much better. Do you know what kind of bread you had and did it have seeds in it?

Yes this is a delicious soup Grandy. I really like the taste and how nourishing it feels.
Now you do good to soak, drain, rinse and cook dried beans. I have not attempted that as yet. I tend to use canned beans, chickpeas. But the split dried lentils I have used. I don't soak them or anything. Just pour them into the soup pot before adding the water . They take around 20 mins to cook. And they seem to be super filling.
xx

Today I ate for breakfast this chia seeds/oats overnight porridge. And I topped it with some canned peaches (in juice) and soy milk. And I ate 1 plum. It kept me satisfied, I never thought about eating again until around 3pm. Then I finished off the soup that I had made previously.
Later in the evening I ate some oven cooked potato chips (pup style) grapes and a chocolate milkshake (Soymilk, raw cocao powder, maple syrup, good quality vanilla and crushed ice) Blend all up.
I also made some more chia seeds/oat porridge for tomorrow. So that's all ready for the morning. I put some organic strawberries on it too.
