I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

Hello
No junk today... Though I have had a headache all day and felt foggy headed and tired. It may well be withdrawal symptoms from refined sugar and such. I know what that feels like from the countless times I have gone through it before. I also feel very full.
Breakfast... Juice ( cucumber, celery, apple, lemon and ginger) and 2 mandarins.
Lunch... Very large salad of red and green cabbage, carrot, red capsicum, toasted almond flakes and a dressing.
Snacks... Hot chocolate and sultanas.

Yeah maybe you are being hard on yourself, I am not sure. But hey you accomplished ordering for yourself a vegan toastie and vegetables. That does sound like it has some nutrition in that. You took care of yourself there.
I also have an issue believing I am valuable. If it is possible to change our beliefs about ourselves I think it definitely would help us heal. Quince up above was saying something like that. I want to read again that part.
I am doing okay. I have had a headache all day, but it will pass.

Hello Shelll (hi Sleepy!)
I usually meet you at the First to be Last game! I hope you don't mind me calling by - I have problems with binge eating only at night when I go to bed - I'm sure it's comfort eating but stopping it is so hard. It started a couple of years ago when I put on weight and a GP put me onto a strict diet and I lost a heap of weight and then got so hungry I snapped and ate everything in sight - and it's continued since then. My weight is actually pretty OK as all meals are healthy except the night-time snacking. It's a pain! What you cook sounds so healthy...
Anyway I wanted to say hello and it's nice to chat sometimes during covid19! You sound like you're doing so well. Best wishes! hugs to all xoxoxo

Hi Shelll (welcome to Hanna)
nice and interesting thoughts about changing beliefs. That is annoying having a headache, hope you had a good day...Is the headache any better?
I had a much better eating day today, really glad I got the takeaway, can see from it that the starving myself definitely contributes to eating sugar afterwards.
Late lunch: vegan toastie - cheese, pickles, good dark bread -
Snacks - watermelon, some plain yoghurt, some white chocolate
Didn't eat dinner but may have some chicken, and a warm chai
Also made up some bircher museli for tomorrow - soaked oats in apple juice, then added some plain yoghurt and maple syrup. It tasted really nice when I sampled it, hope will help me get some breakfast in or lunch or some kind of meals
Decided I'm okay to indulge and get some takeaway if I am feeling very down, it helps me eat and manage. Really helped me today.

Shelll - your smoothies sound so delicious. I hope your headache has eased off. It can’t be easy coming off refined sugar.
As predicted, my days intake wasn’t the best...
breakfast... meal replacement shake
lunch... apple & cinnamon muffin with double cream
afternoon tea... cup of black tea with 1/2 tspn sugar
dinner... kfc chicken burger
Miss 14 loved her first days work at the patisserie but oh boy I can see trouble ahead for me - that Apple cinnamon muffin today was out of this world... the centre of it was injected with puréed apple and there was a sweet crumble topping... DIVINE.

Good Morning Bee, is it okay if I call you that?
I know what you mean about the loose mandarine skin. Imperial are one of my favourites too. Yummy.
And thankyou the headache I had yesterday has eased off quite a bit.
Did your 14 year old daughter like her first day working at the patisserie?
And yeah that would be challenging with all those foods that patisseries normally sell. Even the aromas coming from shops like that are devine. I love apples as well. And I love opening a jar of cinnamon I have, just to smell it. Pink lady apples ones at the moment. You like those don't you Sleepy? You could probably make some kind of muffin which was healthier that had pureed apple in it. And then your kitchen could have a real cinnamon and baking apples scent waffling through it.
But yeah it would be a challenge to visit where you daughter works with those scents in the air there. Could you just order like a tea or something?
And how much weight are you aiming to lose? I am currently sitting at 82kg and would like to lose around 20 kg or so. I will join you in weighing myself more regularly. Maybe that is like to help with accountability or something.

Ah Thankyou Sleepy, yeah the headache has pretty much gone now.
And yah to the watermelon that you munched on , I love that pretty pink colour inside.
How did the bircher taste today? Maybe I should have a go at that. Oats are super healthy aren't they. And if you make it the day before like you did, then there is no thinking involved like " oh what will I eat for my breakfast this morning?"
And what is the good dark bread that you ate?
And I thought you maybe struggling.. the day I asked after you. Maybe I could sense it behind your words or the way you express yourself. Wish I could help you.
I would send you an organic box of goodies if I could. Here is a virtual one for you.
In it is crispy pink lady apples in a brown paper bag. A bottle of very natural body wash with a heavenly no chemical scent.. Some more oats, some popping corn, so you could have fun popping some in the early evening. A container of loving earth chocolate and a cute homemade stuffed cat. Feel free to donate the stuffed cat if it's not your thing. It was the closest I could get to a real kitty.
Hope you are okay to read all that. I did write quite a bit. Well it felt like it anyway.
Have a good day today
Shelley

Hey Hanna
Oh I am quite happy that you are calling by. And a big hello back to you.
I hear you loud and clear with the snacking and/or binge in bed at night. Sometimes this turns into a habit. I am attempting not to eat into the night anymore. I do slip up though. What sort of snacks to you tend to snack on at night? I am guessing in may be either something dairy, something sweet, something fatty or something salty. Or maybe it's toast. I went through episodes of the "toast" one.
Anyway nice to see you in here.
May I ask what sort of strict eating plant the GP advised for you? No pressure to answer..
