*Trigger warning* Eating for Health and Wellness

I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.

Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )

I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.

So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

Feeling a little better today, so that is good. I made sure I ate a bigger lunch. I still feel very full at the moment. So just had a juice for dinner. Made sure I drank more water as well.

Breakfast... Smoothie (oat milk, banana, tahini, cacao, fresh mint, date) So yum.

3 mandarines.

Lunch... Very large salad. (Tofu, sweet potato, cold brown basmati rice, cos lettuce, bit of left of veg curry from the other night.) Dressing.

Dinner.... Juice ( carrot, celery, apple, fennel and ginger)

Snack... Junkfood. 1 block of maltessers chocolate 👎👎👎

Hey how did you go with your eating today? I love mandarines. Good choice of yours.

Monkey Magic or MM, another member who sometimes pops on this thread is having a meal replacement thing. I cannot remember which one it is though.

Hi Shell,

Earlier you mentioned doing a detox. I think that's a great idea for me. I should go out n buy fruits n vegs to make some juices and just eat clean.

I have a tub of Isagenix meal replacement shakes which I've been using. I still feel hungry though which is probably the point- to lose weight.

Today I've had;

Mexican rice with cheese

Cheese toastie

Coffee × 2

Hot choc

Fish

Yogurt and banana

Dark choc

& Currently baking choc chip and cranberry cookies so will probably have a few of those.

I like the idea of flooding the body with nutrients. I think I'm doing that when I have an Isagenix shake.

Hey Quince, nice to meet you.

Thankyou for sharing your thoughts.

And I agree it is not easy to acknowledge and understand and believe we are valuable and worthy.

I was thinking if I could just change my belief or really acknowledge and know deep down I am worthy and I am valuable then I will not rely on others for my feeling of worth.

My brain is going around in circles Quince. But I so much wanted to say I appreciate what you had to say. I will read again when my head is not do scrambled.

hey

at first i didn't know my feelings towards the quote - i guess it can be taken different ways -

i think belief is interesting because we hold it so true, i wander if we can change our beliefs about ourselves to heal. It's an interesting quote, and i think personally i've always had the belief i was less valuable than others... which hasn't helped me heal.

thank Shelll, monkey, Quince, and welcome to broken 598

Are you struggling there Sleepy? Just saying hi and thankyou for sharing your thoughts on that quote.

Just saying hi MM

Hi Shelll,

me too - I love mandarins, especially imperials with loose skin ... they’re so sweet once the skin loosens. I sometimes buy tinned mandarin segments and add them to a salad, they’re just so yummy and sweet.

Regarding meal replacement shakes, this is my first experience with them so I’m open to all ideas. My GP recommended Natures Way from the supermarket bc it’s quite palatable and doesn’t cost a bomb. I’ve found it doesn’t leave me hungry and it really is quite yummy.

yesterdays food was quite unbalanced so I hope it hasn’t derailed my weight loss.

Breakfast & lunch were meal replacement shakes, snacks were fruit and dinner was divine Indian takeaway... vegetable samosas, butter naan and mixed vegetable korma. Sooooo yummy and such a treat.

Im not too confident about today’s food... my 14yo has started her first job at a patisserie today and I suspect a wee purchase may be the done thing when I pop in during her shift... Plus she’s asked for a special dinner tonight to I’ll have to be disciplined with portion control.

how are you doing? 🌼

hey Shelll,

how are you?

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and anxious, frustrated that i can't accomplish much. Guess I'm being hard on myself. Really freezing weather (pouring rain) and dreary and lockdowns now in my city. Ordered takeaway today, a vegan toastie with some vegetables, it was actually perfect !

i feel hungry, like for stability and for food.

Hope you're doing well
