Three things to be thankful for today

Some days it is really hard to find anything to be thankful for when we feel overcome by the darkness and fog of depression. If I look hard enough, I can find something to be thankful for.
I would like to encourage others to write down three things they are thankful for, and to realise there is a sense of hope available to us all. Sometimes it is just a little hard to find!
So my three things for today are:
1: The lovely singing of birds in the morning as they welcome in the new day
2: The ability to read and write
3: A lovely hot shower.
Wishing all the "family" in BB Land a day full of noticing the nice things in life. Kind regards to you all, from Dools.

Today I am SO grateful for:
* the beautiful BB members who open their hearts to help others and share their difficult times - thankyou.
* my noisy dog! I really know I'm alive with his barking lol!
* the opportunity to plan and live a wonderful life.
* my awesome children.
* my work, sustaining us and gifting me everyday with sunshine and smiles.
* my openness (finally) to making new friends and nurturing the contacts I already had - to become closer to me. I'm less afraid of doing this now so I'm very grateful.
Love and many Blessings to everyone,
EM

It's a big one today. I am thankful for:
1) My partner's surgery (heart and lung transplant) going fairly smoothly, that he is still with me.
2) That we are finally home after almost three months (the surgery was interstate, then we had to do repairs on the house to make it safe for him - there were mould problems and he's on immune suppressants - dangerous combination).
3) That we have time and space to play with our two beautiful birds.

Only 1 thing today, but it’s a HUGE thing. & I feel like a massive weight has been partially lifted off my shoulders.
Bit tricky to explain but I use an insulin pump & today I switched it to “auto-mode” which is a closed loop system. Basically this means the insulin pump will aim to get my blood glucose levels to a certain level & maintain me there, without any inout from me.
Previously I would have to finger pricked, then inject or react depending on results. I would have no idea what my levels were doing until I finger pricked again. I was averaging 8-10 finger pricks a day for blood tests. Last year I got the pump & CGM. The CGM is a continuous glucose monitor. It means I wear a sensor in my arm that monitors my levels. Then it sends that information to the pump. So I would get a graph on my pump with my numbers & I would manually tell the pump when to give me insulin etc. so I was forever it looking at the graph at all day to maintain my levels in my range.
But auto mode means I don’t have to constantly watch the graph. I switched it on mid morning, after lunch I had a nap. My levels started rising due to the fact I had eaten, but my pump gave me more insulin to keep me in range. Once my levels started dropping, it stopped insulin delivery so I didn’t fall too low.
omg! For someone who has spent 34 years having to do all that thinking myself, this is wonderful! I was so happy I found myself singing to myself this afternoon.
Thank you science & technology for making my life a little bit easier ❤️
