Three things to be thankful for today

Some days it is really hard to find anything to be thankful for when we feel overcome by the darkness and fog of depression. If I look hard enough, I can find something to be thankful for.

I would like to encourage others to write down three things they are thankful for, and to realise there is a sense of hope available to us all. Sometimes it is just a little hard to find!

So my three things for today are:

1: The lovely singing of birds in the morning as they welcome in the new day

2: The ability to read and write

3: A lovely hot shower.

Wishing all the "family" in BB Land a day full of noticing the nice things in life. Kind regards to you all, from Dools.

Hi Madi89 and Everyone,

It is great that we all have something we can be thankful for even if some days are a bit of a struggle!

Madi, what kind of horses do you have? I used to like riding horses!

Today I am thankful for:

1) The refreshing rain

2) Home made soup for lunch

3) Chocolate! Yer. That really hits the spot some does doesn't it!

Cheers all.

This is lovely - if I could just work out how to get my printer working again I'd be wallpapering every room in the house with it. We shouldn't ever let ourselves forget the strength we have found  to weather the storms that rage within us. We are still here, we are still fighting ... we are warriors!

Love this idea - on even the darkest days there will always be something beautiful happening somewhere, and to count the blessings of each day forces our minds to focus on that. So, for me today I am so thankful that:

1 I not only saw the sunset, but I felt it's beauty

2 My mate has arrived home safe and well and happy

3 Hooray, I get to sleep in an extra hour tomorrow morning (is it cheating to count that in today's list?). Nah, it can't be ... feeling anticipation is a joy in itself!

I think I'm rather glad I joined this community. Oh, that's another blessing. Now I'll have to watch I don't get all OCD about counting.

Hi Marjay,

Welcome to the community here at Beyond Blue. Thanks for your lovely message.

You are more than encouraged and welcome to write down as many things as you can think of to be thankful for!

I've recently had days in bed with Migraines and I was thankful I had a comfortable, warm bed to be in. Some days it is a little harder to see the things to be thankful for, but they are there.

Today I am thankful for

1) The fact I have employment!

2) I can hear a magpie chirping outside

3) We have some wood for the wood fire to help keep us warm!

Cheers to you all. from Mrs. Dools

Today I am reminding myself to be thankful .. it is a struggle but nonetheless, I am:

1  Pleased that although it was slippery yesterday, I pulled back from that dark and foul pit that wants to pull me into its maw all too effortlessly; and that I am still resisting.

2  I have seen not one but two huge rainbows today - one in the east, one in the west; I'd like to believe there is something magical or mystical to that.

3  I have finally decided (after weeks of procrastination) that although my printer is not old, it is decidedly in the throes of a major mental health issue .... and there simply isn't room for two of us in that condition. So it is leaving home and being replaced (I can't stand competition, it's the printer or me!)

Hope everyone else is feeling bright and strong today.

Hi Marjay,

It is wonderful to read your post. Thanks for sharing how you are feeling. Hope you manage to get a new printer!

Just wondering if you have thought of starting up your own post if you have not done so already.

You can have a great "conversation" with people if you start up your own thread or join in like you are here.

I hope you have had an okay kind of day!

Cheers to you from Lauren
