Dear All~

What this place is for:
This thread is a tool, a resource, and also I guess a dash of entertainment.

I’ve found that when life is grim that sometimes thoughts of past happiness can create a chink of light in the grey overwhelming press of down. They can help occupy the mind with lighter reflections.

With that in view I invite people to set down a brief passage describing some happy event they look back to with fondness and peace.

They - and others too - can then return to it when they feel the need to glean a little warmth.

It is not a place for gloomy or dire tales, those can go elsewhere.

What to do:
Just set out, as simply as you like, your recollection of some past experience that means something good to you, something you enjoyed, something from safe times.

It can be, like my story below, anything – from an account of visiting grandparents to simply cooking and eating a melted-cheese sandwich in a favorite kitchen – you get to choose.

How to do it:
Write. Write enough so someone else can feel the mood, know what happened, find the goodness. (stop at 2,500 characters please!)

Grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation are not compulsory, just write as you can – the only important thing is the content - not literary merit. Short or long - it does not matter.

I hope you enjoy, contribute and find a little distraction here when you need it.

Hi T,

Your memory of the milk at school, brought up a memory of mine. We also had milk delivered and you didn't pay for it. It was in kindergarten I believe. It was in the canteen. But you had to make a run for it, if you wanted the flavoured milk. If you weren't quick enough you had to settle for the plain milk.

Oh yes, thanks for that. I can see that now. I am now remembering some stamp with the queens face on it. Maybe that one was a popular one at some time. I don't know where I would have seen it though. Some one in my past had some???

Kanga's river story reminded me of a time we stayed at a caravan park on a river. In the morning I went for a walk along the river and under a bridge.

A man was living under the bridge. I commented "lovely day isn't it!".

He replied, "It was until you came walking through my bedroom!"

Fair enough.

I kept my laughter to myself until he was unable to hear me.

Cheers all Mrs. Dools

Hahahaha..... oh Mrs D that is funny. Thanks for helping me giggle tonight.

The memories continue. Whilst I was a joey my parents took me to the snow fields of Bulla, Falls creek, Hothom. On one occasion my farther who had managed to manufacture a pair of skies for me, including cutting down a pair of period adult bindings to suit a child. Made the stocks (the poles the hold in there hands) bought a pair of boots glued extra bits on so I could attach them to the bindings.

Back to the story in his infinite wisdom ( soon to dread) put my skies on first at the top of a slope. With people skiing below us. Ok hands up who thinks the little kanga was off. In a flash come on be honest he was all of 5 years old. who thinks he would give his farther a heart attack. ..............Well you bet I did. Now here is my farther running down the slope trying to catch me. A ski instructor screaming at me "little boy Little boy do you want to break your neck" because no fear in me just straight down the hill. no turns no breaking manouers. Just straight fast straight at them

Hula hoops don't go around your ankles. You hang them from your ears don't you?

Here is a random memory from no where, when we were kids, my siblings and I were standing in the kitchen. The eldest tossed an egg in the air to see what would happen!

Everything was okay until Mum walked in! She didn't see the funny side at all.
