Another nice little topic to chat about 🙂

It's really important to those of us with mental issues to hold on to our achievements and successes, especially the ones over our illnesses. Each and every achievement, no matter how small you might think it is, is so important. We should celebrate and take pride in each achievement- because each one is a step towards recovery.

So in this topic I'd like us to share our successes. You can post as often as you like, every time you have an achievement or success you'd like to share (even if you think "but it wasn't that big a deal"). Yes it IS a big deal! Fighting an illness is hard work, so lets celebrate all our achievements!

When i first fought my anxiety, my very very first challenge was to drive to the local shops. And I achieved it, and boy did I celebrate. Might not sound like much to someone else, but to me it was like climbing Mount Everest while wearing shorts and thongs (i imagine). So you better believe I went home and danced around my house celebrating my success!

My most recent achievement I am celebrating is: I attended my first job interview in 3 years that i did NOT take any anti-anxiety medication whatsoever for. Every other interview in the last 3 years i've needed strong anti-anxiety medication. But after much therapy and hard work, i learned more and more coping skills. I was nervous about not taking the medication as I was so used to doing it, but not only did i get through the interview but i did it calmly and kept my anxiety well under control. I'm pretty proud of myself!

(Also I got the job- yay- but unfortunately i cant accept it due to other reasons. But I'm still celebrating being offered a job!!!)

So lets hear it! Whats a recent achievement, positive step or success you made? Take pride in it and celebrate it!!

achievement of today: I managed to fight off another big urge to contact someone who cut off contact with me on sunday...

A small achievement for today is having the motivation to go shopping tomorrow and try out a recipe

I managed to make tit to the Riding for the Disbaled when all I really wanted to do was stay home in bed.

I'm alive. Sometimes that's all we can manage.

Hi Dottie,

Well done to you! Congratulations for making it to another day. This is a new day, yo have never been here before, so you can make the day what you want it to be!

My back is killing me today with pain, so I am going to sit out in the sun later and do some crocheting while enjoying being in the garden.

That will be my achievement. To enjoy the garden even though I can't work in it today and to accomplish some craft as well. That is two achievements!

Three even for deciding to make the most of my day.

Hope you can find hope today Dottie!

Cheers from Mrs. D.

I took Buddy out for a wander in the sun on his lead, in the front and back yards, so hopefully I got a good dose of vitamin D

Hi,

Mrs D., spending time in your garden and crafting were wonderful achievements. I hope it was relaxing.

Also, thank you for the words of encouragement.

Wilma, your post got me all choked up. Thank you for caring.

I'm glad you made an appearance here Dottie, I too was concerned, but also dealing with my own version of hell

I'm proud of myself today, for spending the morning out of bed. I'm back in there now with Buddy, but I don't care, I did my best.

Dottie: we all care about you and your wellbeing. Everyone deserves to be happy in this life.

Music_Freak: some days just getting out of bed is a huge achievement, especially on a bad day

Wilma: you are so sweet and caring. I have seen you a few times on the forums and you always have the right works.

My achievement. I had a really bad, I'm gonna call it, mental health day. I got a call from work and from there all my stress came tumbling down. I am glad I was about to go to my GP appointment I booked a week ago, even thought I wasn't feel great. I went even though I was on the verge of tears. I am also glad I managed to go to my friends for dinner.

We all have bad days and good. And yesterday was a bad day. It felt horrible. I didn't feel like it could get any better ever. Yet today I feel so much better. It is fascinating how one bad day can get better the next. Hope everyone is doing well
