Hello
My whole life i have dealt with mild mental health issues. From anxiety and depression where i have experienced traumatic events, which have made things worse.
i come in and out of my mental health issues. Over the past month or so I have been trying to meditate daily. Also i have been trying to get in touch with God also through prayer. Even though I am catholic, i dont really preach and attend service weekly, but since i have been praying, i have been thinking of the benefits of trying to persue God and the holy spirit. I think when you persue God, you are really pursuing true self and healing and being fullfilled from the inside through the Holy Spirit. I find it really similar in terms of the effects on your mind and body as mediation. You are trying to heal and be intouch with your inner fullfilled self!
Anyone want to discuss their experiences with constant meditation and the persuit of God on treating their mental health? I think it is helping me get more grounded.

Hi John P!
I believe that it is challenging but it is possible to change your inner experiences.
With regards to finding it hard to to feel or see things, have you ever spoken to a mental health professional about this before? Is there anything that you can think of internally that may be blocking this?
Here for you!

Hello
yes, i think my senses get blocked because i have been through trauma before and i feel that I am scarred from it. It has inhibited my ability to feel connection to people. It has effected my cognition function. It has also inhibited my ability to feel present in conversations. I 'zone out' a lot. Is this a sign of trauma? I zone out plenty and it also inhibits my social ability as well.
is 'zoning out' and symptom of mental health issues!?

Hi John P,
I have heard from some people that they feel the trauma in their body as their body processes the emotions also. To be honest I wouldn't feel comfortable saying if it is or isn't a symptom of mental health issue, I'm sorry if I have asked this before but have you considered speaking to a mental health professional? Sometimes it can make you feel much better to speak to a professional about your concerns and with their expertise may be able to assist you.
Here for you!

hello.
yes i have my second session with a psychologist next week. i will see how i go. i think i may have disassociation which results from my trauma which causes me to find it hard to be present. Be able to feel connection to activities and people etc. I need to work on this and my meditation is helping. i am also trying to connect with nature and focus my mind more. thanks
FOCUS of the mind is so important. narrowing down options, narrowing down problems, narrowing down next steps. narrowing down and focusing on how to move forward.

I've found the high frequency meditation sounds on Youtube can be helpful. Any kind of music that operates in that higher frequency range can be useful though. I agree about focus, and it's absolutely important in reducing over-thinking and self-criticism for me. One technique that helps is the notice three things grounding practice. I also use aromatherapy, scent can bring us to calmer places and even somewhere we've forgotten we have been.
In terms of a little bit of spirituality, the Taoism concept of Emptiness is something I've been exploring lately. Being able to remove the negativity life has stamped into us and reset in a way appeals to me, and is the best way to reconnect more with the idealised way we need to live this modern life so that it works for ourselves.

Hi John P!
I hope that your psychologist can help, that sounds really challenging to go through. It sounds like you are very motivated to learn and connect with your mind and environment more. If you learn any useful techniques please let us know! I also want to learn to zone in on the moment. I find that I focus on so many things at once.
memory trap also mentioned a very interesting concept with high frequency meditation sounds. I've never used it myself yet but I have heard of others using it and finding it to be helpful.
Look forward to hearing from you!

Hello
I saw my psychologist yesterday. She mentioned that i am to move to more of a flow state where i operate on a natural level and with my gut feeling. Where i act not on my mind, but my instinct and intuition. This will help me let go of my emotional demons as i operate on more of a natural level throughout the day.

Hi!
That is very interesting - thank you for sharing! I relate to that and I want to be in more of a flow state too. I feel as though I am always thinking about everything. I will try to be in a flow state this week! Please keep us updated on how that goes for you as well!
