JUICING for mental health

Hi all 👋

I've recently bought a juicer and have been making fruit/veg juices and have noticed it making a difference to my mental health. I'm clearer, more energized and I just know I'm giving my body many health benefits by drinking pure extracted fruits and vegetables. I thought I'd start this thread for us juicers or wannabe juicers to share juicing recipes. It's become my new "thing".

Hi MM, Sleepy and all

Ok I will look out for a larger container. I do have a couple of glass ones that hold 1 litre.

What was the 30 day smoothies challenge documentary you just watched MM. I often look for things like that to watch to help me stay on track, to feel encouraged, plus maybe try out new smoothies and juices.

How you going with your juicing today MM, you discovered any new ones you like?

You tryed any smoothies lately Sleepy?

I made a smoothie last night. Just felt like something creamy, sweet and of course chocolatey.

So I blended up:

1 medium ripe with a few black spots banana

some vanilla,

soy milk,

1 chopped medjool date,

some cacao powder

1 cup baby spinach

I have not tried one exactly like that before. I found it yummy.. Its not totally brown colour... more like a browny green.

Will you keep giving us updates MM on how you are going with this weight programme app thing? I so much want to know.

Hey Sleepy .. Have you tried "Nutty Bruce" almond milk? You find it in the fresh milk section usually in Woolworths. For my taste buds it just feels nicer and tastes fresher. I am not fond of any other commercial almond milks, plus some have added stuff in them, that is perhaps not too healthy. There is also 1 oat milk I like, but cannot remember the name. It is an organic long life one. Maybe is called oatley... Yeah IDK 🤷‍♀️

Hello Shelly belly,

Hope you are well!

You can use your 1ltr containers. It all depends on how much juice U want to drink.

I'm still finishing off my carrot, orange, ginger juice but I have a favourite that feels more nutrient dense for me that I sort of like the best. I feel really good after drinking this one.
I'll probably have the raw beetroot, celery, carrot, apple, watermelon juice the most frequently. It keeps me regular, fills me up the most out of the juices I've tried and I feel the best after drinking it. So I'll be making that one next, again.

Today my smoothie is going to be
- baby spinach
- ripe mango
- frozen banana
- frozen blueberries
- l/f milk

Here's another smoothie if any wants to try it;

Chocolate, 🍒 cherry smoothie

-1 cup baby spinach
- 2 cups frozen cherries
- 2 Tbs cacao powder
- 1 small medjool date
- 1/2 ripe frozen banana
- unsweetened almond milk ( or milk of choice)

The 30 day green smoothie challenge is by Sergei Boutenko. You can YouTube Sergei's 30 day green smoothie challenge. The whole movie goes for over 2 hrs. He has other shorter videos as well which should also come up under Boutenko Films.

I like him. He has a gentle nature and is easy to keep watching. You will learn a lot from him.

Your smoothie of the day sounds delicious. I'm yet to add a date since I haven't bought any. Food for thought for my next shop.

🤔

Hi Peeps,

Just threw a juice together using whatever leftovers I had in the fridge and have drank it all in one sitting because I was a little dehydrated.

3 oranges
4 small apples
2 med cucumbers
1 carrot
1 small piece ginger

Ok, so fructose!
Now, when I drink a juice it feels like the sugar rush goes straight to my brain. I've been questioning whether I'm digesting too much of it in my juices. A lot of sources I've researched have said not to be afraid of fruit sugar in your diet. I always mix it with veg too which is supposed to be even better.
Apparently it's absorbed differently to processed sugars.

I'm unsure of whether I did just have too much of it right now as I'm a believer of everything in moderation but I'll just go with not fearing fructose for now. I'll see how I feel and how my energy levels are.

I made the most delicious smoothie of my life and so I have to share.

There are so many different diet/ protein/meal replacement shakes on the market. Use the one you have or choose to buy. The one I've been using is Isagenix.

- 1 scoop chocolate Isagenix
- 1 large tablespoon natural peanut butter
- 7 pitted dates
- 1 large tablespoon dessicated coconut
- l/f milk or milk of choice
- 3-4 ice cubes

Blend and enjoy.

This tasted like desert to me.

Sounds good MM

🙂

Love that it tasted like dessert - natural ingredients and a yum taste, ideal. Love the dates, too. I'd like to try some of those in my diet now - good reminder 🙂 love your juices

Oh wow that sounds so creamy

Hi all

Last night I made a juice of about 6 carrots, 1/2 telegraph cucumber, 1 orange, some fresh turmeric and fresh ginger. It does not taste too sweet, but as I was drinking it, it just felt so nourishing.

This morning I made a smoothie of 1 banana, 1 medjool date, soy milk, 1 teaspoon of green powder ( wheat grass, barley grass, spirulina, moringa) some flaxseed, cacao and some vanilla. I am attempting to consume more flaxseeds and green powder. Thought that was a one good way of getting it into my body.

And MM I have heard of the guy you mentioned... I have watched some of his smoothie recipes videos on YouTube. And also his mother has been a longstanding smoothie maker. I think he grew up drinking green smoothies. I have not watched his documentary though.

You are going great. 👏

I also bought 2 more 1 litre glass container /bottles for juices.

Hello Sleepy and anyone else on here🙋‍♀️

Shell,

Your post is the best thing I've heard all day!!! Even if it is only 9:40am.

Investing in your health is one of the greatest things you can do in life.

You smashed it!

Those home made juices are just so nourishing aren't they.

Recently I've been sauteeing my greens instead of juicing them and have been making smoothies out of my tub of chocolate Isagenix which is a meal replacement shake. It has a thick consistently and tastes delicious.

Yeah that green smoothie YouTube guy has been drinking green smoothies daily for a very long time.

My goal has been to lose weight and GRAPEFRUIT has been shown to aid weight-loss. I much prefer the pink grapefruit to the yellow one though!

I haven't tried this juice yet but I'm putting it here for future reference.

Adjust quantities to suit.

- 1 grapefruit
- 2 apples
- 6 carrots

Peel grapefruit
Core apples
Put all ingredients in a juicer, stir well and enjoy!
