Hi Everybody
Without a doubt Facebook is one of the best social media sites. I have been on FB for a long time and found it invaluable yet very stressful at times whilst having anxiety and/or depression or even just checking it every day.
Your views on FB, its impact on your mental health, well being, whether good or not so good are more than welcome.
Thankyou for reading my thread topic!
my kind thoughts

Hey RX and Lici
Just an interesting fact....There are approx 30+ directors & CEO CFO's that run Facebook.....
Not one has a Facebook account....Oh my!
Facebook can be a good social media tool for close family with all the privacy functions enabled
Internet dating has worked really well for me except for the 'gold diggers' that I have come across asking me if I am renting or own my home...Oh dear

Eh Paul that's a classic , they're a lot smarter than their customers eh.
l went on a date site too after my divorce for a few mths , as l say still never dated though but l did meet some nice girls , just not my type once face to face though. But when l find a suitable thread l'll tell ya about the times we met , you won't hear these on relationship and date forums. Had some great times, pretty funny when l look back on it.

No worries RX...and I will too
There is an old internet dating thread...If I can find it I will post a link on your thread...
The top brass of FB were asked in Congress (USA) why not one of their directors/executives had a FB account
They responded using the 1st amendment and 'Free Speech' as a personal choice not to have an account....lol
Ill have a sticky for that old thread..it was good value (internet dating)

Hi everyone,
I had a Facebook ‘cleanse’ over the weekend, my friends list is now down to 77, I switched off notifications, unliked a heap of pages and left most of my groups. I also snoozed a few annoying friends and relatives.
The end result is that Facebook has actually become a lot less attractive to me for the mindless task of ‘scrolling’, as there’s not much to scroll through... so I’m not picking my phone up as much to check it - winning!

Hi Tams,
Did your cleanse feel good? I know mine did! That's good that it's not making you want to mindlessly scroll anymore. I find I tend to still scroll because I added a bunch of things I do like to my Facebook such as photography groups, writing pages and science pages lol. This means that my wall is full of things I love so I end up scrolling through for hours!

Hi Lici,
The cleanse felt good! I was pretty brutal with it too. I even inspired a friend to do the same thing, she had over 500 friends and deleted 100 in about half an hour. She says that was just Round 1.
I probably will add pages and join groups that I’m interested in with time, I just wanted to start with a relatively clean slate. It was taking up too much of my spare time and I was seeing things on there that were having a negative impact on my mood.

Hi Tams,
Good on you for being brutal! It can be difficult to do when you're not brutal like that normally! Oh and good on you for inspiring your friend too! I think I got my friendslist down to 60 in the end, they're all friends or family of mine or my boyfriend's though so I'm happy with that number.
Starting with a clean slate is good. I hear you with it taking up too much spare time, it can be really habit forming that way!
I still have a few things on mine that negatively impact my mood. These are political pages though as I like to keep informed of political events happening. It's great that you saw what was impacting your mood like that though, that can be something really difficult to become aware of so you did awesome!
Lici
