Hey wonderful people!
I take delight when I read about what other people have made themselves; from art works to sewing to knitting to ANYTHING!
The CREATIVITY in these forums is astounding.
The skill set is pretty mind blowing too.
It warms my heart to know that Arts and Crafts are being enjoyed by so many of our members.
Please feel welcome to SHARE your past, present or future projects with us all.
Or even what you'd like to learn how to do.
Any gift ideas are most welcome too!

Wow its been only a week or so since I last posted here and several are dropping in
How cool is that.
Well my metal earth model arrived two days ago and I have been piecing it together. Its a small little model about the size of my palm that is made with thin metal. So its sturdy but its malleable.
Its of Slave 1 which for star wars fans amongst us is the name of Boba/Jango Fetts star ship. Its a really unique looking space ship but its also got some cool karkey (dunno how to spell it) green. But the model is all silver. Was thinking of painting a small part of it but once I have figured out how to bend the pieces correctly I may just want to leave it. Its pretty fragile lol.
Yes - my name is a pun haha. I can't remember when I made this name but it was a number of years ago now.

Hey HamSolo, that sounds so cool!
Pretty tiny! You must have great eyes to see pieces that tiny.
I think you must enjoy a challenge there lol.
Let us know how it turned out, I hope it doesn't take too long but my BF enjoys doing things like that, he says that's half the fun of it.... opposites attract here lol.
Sounds AWESOME!

Hi not Batman,
I don’t think I have any advice for portraits! I have always just ‘played’ with oils, although did some life drawing eons ago.
have you done portraits etc before? If so I totally take my hat off! I find ppl the most challenging. It’s also hard to get someone to sit still for the length of time I need!
I used to sketch my babies when they were sleeping. That was lovely. So peaceful!
have fun playing with your new medium! I’d love to hear how you go.
cheers

Hi Em, I absolutely would choose a brother sewing machine. Singer used to be great as well but made in China or something now I think. My brother is so good. They used to always have brothers in schools cos they could handle the treatment they got there.
I am considering putting a bed in my sewing room, so why not?! You will know if it’s working for you or not. Like the sound of a sewing nook!
must go. My aircon is working in sewing room after all, and a few hours is all I have..... completion of at least one project ( do you remember my perfect handbag??) thats my aim!
cheers everyone, lovely to read of all the different creative bents in here.

Hey J* yes it's great reading what other ppl are doing in their creative time.
HamSolo lol patience indeed!
Oh Not_Batman I can't help you with your question on oils. Sorry. No idea.
J* okay, a Brother it will be. Didn't know that about schools using them. I'm sold. lol.
With an air con and a bed in your sewing room, you may never leave! lol.
That's what I thought if I had a Woodworking Shed in the backyard... nup never leave lol.
Thinking it'd be best if I only had 1 sewing project in my bedroom at a time, may favourite one - my Owl cross stitch, reminds me of my BF being a Wise Owl lol. Matches my kitchen colours too black and white. The rest can go into storage, I probably have enough projects to last many years.
Then I won't get as frustrated seeing it all around me whilst I'm working & too busy with the kids and garden.
A much more peaceful bedroom space.
Good luck with your wonderful bag! Sounds awesome.

hi all creatives,
I really like reading this thread - despite me no creative bone in body lol. I do however have heaps of colour books, colour pencils - all types inc watercolours and some art kits (I don't even know what they are lol) - I think one might be acrylic?? I don't know. I have all this from lots of stays in eating wards which give us packs to help with distraction after meals. I kept the packs all these years, hoping to have a go. Today I tried. Only coloured in a moon haha. I think it is the depression/agitation that means I can't stick at a task? Do others find this? What do you suggest? Just stick at it/push on through?
I love the idea of art/craft. The watercolours really appeal to me. Like I said - not good at it - but like the calm, beautiful colours especially the blues and greens. I don't even know how to watercolour?? The colour/paint by numbers sounds good Dools. I hope you are enjoying it. I remember back when I started uni 20yrs ago I bought all these beading magazines and would spend my breaks wandering around Spotlight and Lincraft getting ideas for necklaces to bead. I never did one!! Actually, I made a few in hospital which turned out okay (heaps of help from tutor though). But I love these more than my store bought ones! Because I spent time on them 🙂
I think there is a lot to be said for art as therapy. Glad you made this thread EM. I hope all are well 🙂

Dear golden, me too, I'm glad you joined us!
"watercolours really appeal to me..."
You have such a gentle nature, golden, that's no surprise lol.
I home-schooled my children in the Waldorf Steiner philosophy.
I'd LOVE you to Google this and add "watercolour".... the paintings are so gentle, see if you like them.
I esp love the 'wet on wet' technique with watercolours and the paintings this technique produces.
Don't be concerned with any sales pitches that you need this or that type of paper and paint etc, you don't lol....
Just 3 colours; red yellow blue.
Just white paper.
I used a spray bottle with plain water to wet the paper.
A paint brush.
A cup to rinse your brush.
AND a surface to paint on... maybe your kitchen bench? It washes off easily.
You may become as mesmerised as I was searching these for you!
Watching the people paint is so relaxing.
There are WHOLE Art therapies based around this philosophy.
Yes, I also have similar issues with finishing things or even starting them.
Difficulties with concentration is par for the course post trauma.
Be kind to yourself dear golden.
Sometimes we can benefit from having "co-regulators".
I play music I love.
Or "watch" a series on ABC iView that I love. It just goes on in the background.
Tonight I listened to a funny podcast whilst I worked setting up son's bedroom, I'm graduating lol.
With your reference to nature.... I'm sure there's a thing called ND.... 'Nature Deficit'... have you considered getting an indoor plant?
You could grow Sanseveria very successfully in a shaded place. You can ask as many questions as your heart desires on the gardening thread... there's an awesome "brains trust" there waiting with baited breath lol...
Lastly I wanted to mention 'motivation'.
Each person has their own motivation to create.
Some ppl simply LOVE the process of creating. My daughter needs to paint like she needs to breathe!
I'm like that with gardening but when it comes to cooking or art and craft nope.... I want a product lol.
We're all different and that's what makes our world wonderful.
My crafting has the sole purpose of making my surroundings more beautiful.
Enjoy your watercolours.
Love EMxxxx

Hey HamSolo! A wave from near Sydney lol!!
It's a BEAUTIFUL day today, has an undercurrent of cool air ahhhhh just like Easter time.
That's AMAZING you got that little thing finished! I bet it does look cool.
You can do whatever you want now lol... I kind of use the thing I WANT to do next as a reward for getting the things finished that I want to do less.
So I finish first.
I find it really hard to finish projects so that's one of my goals this year ie to FINISH what I start.
I'll see how I go lol!
Have fun
