Accountability - running the hill

Ok, new fitness regime starts tomorrow. Unless I make myself accountable to somebody, I’ll find an excuse to avoid it.

my challenge is to run the very steep hill my place is on. I’m super unfit, so am going to start easy & just walk it a few times before I attempt to jog it.

So please feel free to ask me about my progress so I feel obligated to actually do it.

And any tips on building up fitness would be appreciated. I need some fitness before the soccer comp kicks off in April.

Thanks team 🙂

I did it!

Today I jogged. I felt so uncoordinated at first, but eventually found my groove.

I downloaded one of those apps mentioned above so it alternates between running & walking which is exactly what I need to build up my fitness.

I had procrastinated all week about increasing my hill walking to running, & initially gave myself a week of walking. A week would be up tomorrow. So I BEAT my goal. Yeah baby!

Hey, that's awesome! You're smashing it 🙂

So good to set a goal and be able to achieve it. Really impressive!

I couldn't get the hang of breathing correctly to run. The last time I used the app I had to lay down or I would have passed out lol so I gave up. What I should have done, was take a step back and reduce the running increments until I had it sussed, instead of quitting. Oh well. Live and learn yeah.

Keep up the good efforts 🙂

Quick update, I’m still going strong, even if slow & steady.

Had a sore knee today so decided my body needed a rest day & I can’t believe I was actually disappointed I wasn’t running 🤣🤣

But I’m improving, hurrah!

Good job TheBigBlue, proud of you.

Hey, glad to hear you're still at it. Hope the knee is feeling better real quick. Good on you 🙂

Well, my sore knee became incredibly painful knee 😥

Diagnosed with Pes Anserine Bursitis. So currently seeing a physio. I’ve been so excited to play football that I refuse to let this opportunity pass. Physio reckons he can have me ready for season kick off.

Cross your fingers for me!

oh no!

That's a bit of bad luck. And you were doing so well! Physio sounds positive though, so that's great.

Stay enthused - love it 🙂

Trial game today!

As yet I had not tried running on my injured knee, but I got the ok from the physio last week, he just warned me not to go too hard & not play a full game.

Anyway, no problem at all with the knee. But my fitness & coordination needs some work 🤣

But I had fun, which was the main thing. Can’t believe I’m actually looking forward to when training & the comp actually starts.

We had a morning game, & my mood has been great all day, just from doing decries & playing a game I love

Hey, was thinking about you and how you're going. Sorry I've been busy and hadn't asked.

That's fantastic that you managed a game and enjoyed it! As for fitness and co-ordination lol, yes, soccer (football? I'm never sure which to call it) requires those in abundance. I've always been fascinated with bicycle kick goals - that's just ridiculous quite honestly! Obviously at your level of play that's way beyond expectation - so no pressure lol just saying...

Anyway GOOD ON YOU!!!

An update in case anyway is interested.

1 loss & 2 draws 😀

We seem to be improving each week though & I think my fitness is slowly improving.

And I’m having fun!
