Hey everyone,
I really need some help. Since I started puberty when I was 10/11 the thought of wearing women's clothing and acting like a girl has excited me. I cant remember what awakened these feelings or if I ever felt like that before Year 5.
When I got into year 8 I started to
feel depressed and anxious all the time in public, the way I looked and how I was tall and hairy and masculine took away all my confidence and self worth.
Im really not sure what to do, seeing as I never had these feelings when I was really little and most transgender people do.
Im seeing my psychologist once a week but its hard to go to school and want to leave my room when I feel so bad.
I need to know if I feel this way because I am a girl (or maybe genderfluid or something?) or if its because of something else.
Thanks

Hi Guest_8326,
Thanks for sharing your story here. I don't have any ideas or ways to help you, I just wanted to let you know that I feel for you. Anyone who doesn't know their place or purpose in life suffers until they feel comfortable with the skin they are in.
I hope your psychologist is able to help you. Do your parents and other family members know how you feel? Are they supportive and understanding of your feelings about thinking/wanting to be a girl?
I would like to encourage you to keep up with all your usual activities. Once we start to feel like being shut away in our room is the best answer, then we can create a problem for ourselves.
Do you have hobbies or interests you can expand on to keep your mind busy and active so you are not thinking of the negative so much?
Have you tried dressing up in girl's clothes? and if so how did it make you feel?
You mentioned you are still at school, so I am not sure how old you are. Do you think that your thoughts could be due to the age you are, the changes that are happening in your body and that say in 5 years time you will feel the same way?
I really don't know much at all relating to your question as to if you really are a girl or not. Either way, you are struggling at the moment, so reach out to people, ask for help and assistance and try to look after yourself.
Don't shut yourself away, that can lead to other problems and increase your depression and anxiety.
From Mrs. Dools

I have told my mum and dad. Shes very supportive and will do whatever she needs to help, but she also wants me to be careful and not rush into anything.
We both think that maybe it might just be an age thing, although im not sure if i felt like this before puberty.
And yes, I have hobbies, I like games and talking to people, going for walks is nice as well!
I have tried girl clothes, just a blouse and a tshirt. Wearing them made me feel so much more confident and happy.
Iv shut myself away for a few years and finally come out and trying to feel better again. Thanks for trying to help ♥

dear Guest_8326, thanks for being brave enough to post this comment.
Firstly can I say to you is that you shouldn't be ashamed at all, nor embarrassed, as there are so many entertainers who feel very comfortable doing exactly the same, OK they make heaps of money, so that's something that you could look at as you get a bit older.
Your mum is supporting you which is good, and if this is what you feel happy about doing, then there's no point forcing yourself to do otherwise.
I would just be careful who you tell at school as it may backfire, I hope not. Geoff.

Hi Guest_8326
I think this reply is a bit late... but they... when it comes to being transgender or having these thoughts... better late than never.
I'm actually a transgender girl... ok women, seeing I'm 41, but my feelings that everything was wrong started around 9 and got really bad around 13 when I was sent to an all boys school... I have to say I think some schools are heaps better now regarding trans issues as there a lot more info out there, but I can say being outed by your brother was pretty horrific for me, so yes, be careful.
As a result of a lot things during my teenage years, I repressed my feelings for a long time, I even became an infantry soldier to be a 'man', but got to around 39 and have to admit everything came tumbling down.
I've been on hrt for about 7 months not and whilst I'd love to say my family has been supportive, actually thinking xmas will be a pretty quite one for me this year :-(, I'd give anything to have had the chance to have been on puberty blockers and in turn never gone through a male puberty, so having a mum who supports you is amazing <3.
What I'd say is find a pysch who specialises in trans issues, not just any one... that was my issue when I was 19, I saw someone who had no idea and lets just say I have more issues than you can poke a stick at now... also find a decent GP, for me it was a female who also specialised in trans medicine... and finally, believe in yourself... being trans can be hard, trust me I live in a small country town, but surprisingly most people now are supportive.
Also, being trans doesn't mean you need to get around looking mary poppins or the alike, I'm see myself as a 'transdyke', I like to usually look like one of the sisters from tegan and sara, though do get dressed up sometimes... and for clothes, I can't remember having a single guys pair or jeans or t-shirts since I was at school... I'm only 5'5" so that has helped, but wear what you want.
Oh... and laser and electrolysis can perform miracles... so don't think you can't be who you want.
As I said... find a pysch who understands and work out who you are and if needed ask a doctor about puberty blockers... this will give you the time to 'not rush into things'...
oh... and tumblr is a great resource for trans individuals... this has kept me going a few times.
