PTSD - birth trauma

Hi
I don't know where to start, but first time reaching out from my first born birth experience.

I've spoken with friends but not anyone professionaly.

I suffered a severe 4th degree tear, with multiple post partum hemorrhage s.

I have flashbacks of seeing the blood and it takes over.

With my second child i had hemorrhaging again and now I feel even worse.

I don't feel like I have anyone to talk to about this and feeling like no one to support me now.

I don't also want to overwhelm my husband or anyone so I'm not reaching out about how I'm feeling.

Hi emeraldcity,

Wellcome to our forums!

Im really sorry you are feeling this way.

I understand how distressing this would be……. thank you for reaching out to us.

Please consider talking to your husband about the way you are feeling, I understand that you dont want to overwhelm him but if you talk to him about it he may be able to understand what you are currently going through or try to…. I’m sure he will want to support you.

I encourage you to please make an appointment with your gp ( book a double appointment) you can do a mental health plan together this will enable you to see a psychologist…..

In some areas there are perinatal clinics a clinical psychologist and psychiatrist sometimes run out of the same clinic……

Maybe you could ask your gp if they are aware of a clinic in your area.

You don’t have to go through this alone, there are people who understand and will be able to help you.

We are here to support you as a community feel free to reach out to us anytime.

Hi, emeraldcity,

I have a little idea of how you feel. My cesarian did not go as planned, the umbilical cord was wrapped around my son's neck twice and the anesthetist, unfortunately, hit the lower part of my spine when giving my anesthesia. I had severe flashbacks, as all of this was out of my control, and had to turn to a psychiatrist for help. He enrolled me in a course with a psychologist/s in a mental health hospital for a six-week course along with my child doing mindfulness and other therapies.

The result was so helpful. My recovery was not quick but I did eventually recover and my son is now 11 years old. I did have to involve my partner, it was not easy but eventually proved that not doing this alone helped me.

I wish the very best for you, Please consider accessing a psychologist or doctor for a mental health plan. It helped me, I hope it can help you too.

Kind Regards
