Hi everyone, I experienced a traumatic memory tonight after briefly watching Ambulance Australia on the TV of something I witnessed years and years ago... I was very distressed. Having really bizarre and abnormal thoughts, fidgeting and having cold sweats. I contacted Lifeline and talked about the memory with one of their counsellors who agreed that it seemed to be very intense. Then I took my PRN... after a few minutes it felt like the memory was just being zapped from the inside out. The noise was becoming quieter, the image started fading out and it came in short bursts rather than like watching a movie.
I guess I wanted to write this post to let everyone know for the next time that you're in distress... to have faith in your medication as it can help to calm you down and may have potentially even saved me from a hospital admission tonight. Thanks for reading

Hi, welcome
A very good warning and we appreciate you posting your experience.
With anxiety and associated illnesses we have to be in self protection mode. I worked as a prison officer 4 decades ago!! actually 46 years ago and had many bad experiences that left me with several fears- blood, crowds etc even though I was only there 3 years. Yes, not knowing my true personality and sensitivity I should never have worked there.
So since then my symptoms have lessened but on the odd occasion eg surgeries on TV I'll immediately change channel if I feel I cant handle it, often I do now but depends on the mood. Animal shows we love but a lion stalking prey and catching it can cause trauma for me and my wife- animal lovers.
We have to protect ourselves so you be the manager of the shows you can watch.
Thankyou
TonyWK
