Friends and neighbours were having a huge yelling match each. Trigger very loud screaming and shouting. My body went into shock mode! I was on the bed shaking I couldn't stop shaking
in tears crying for about 15 minutes husband managed to redirect the situation peacefully and calmly music was turned on and he gave me cuddles saying that I was safe and you're okay! Which helps me so much. But the last few days. My nervous system is sitting at 8%10
So finding ways to settle myself down.

Hey Zamofing1,
Thank you for your post. It sounds like you witnessed a really distressing event and it is totally understandble to be feeling a triggered.
Are there any go-to strategies that you have to soothe yourself when something has triggered you? An older thread here talks about different strategies that others in our community have used:
It can be nice to have a listening ear when things are feeling overwhelming. Even going through a breathing exercise or guided meditation with a counsellor can be a really good way to ground yourself after an upsetting event.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to our lovely counsellors, on 1300 22 4636, or via our webchat. It can make a real difference having someone to talk to especially in moments of distress. Another good option is talking to our friends over at Blue Knot about this on 1300 657 380, every day between 9am-5pm (AEDT). They provide support to people who’ve experienced trauma or abuse in childhood. They also have some resources on their website which could be useful to visit, particularly the pages on Survivors Self Care.
Beyond Blue also has some tips on how to manage anxiety here which might be helpful: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/mental-health/anxiety/treatments-for-anxiety/anxiety-management-strate...
Thank you again for sharing here. Our community is lovely and has plenty of support and understanding for you.
Kind regards
Sophie M
