Taking antidepressents for the first time tomorrow morning.

Hi,

Im not really sure why im posting this but Im feeling really unsure about taking medication tomorrow. I have had depression for about 7 years, but at the beginning my mum thought i was too young (i was 12-13), and its only now that I have finally decided that I need something else to help as I cant seem to make myself happy on my own.
I am really hopefull for what the antidepressents will do, but I am also really worried. My father has bipolar, and I am really worried that by taking them, it could trigger it in me. I dont have bipolar my self, but due to the genetic predisposition to it and the increased chance of getting it as my dad has it, im really worried that this might be enough to set it off.
As much as I want to be happy, if it risked me going through what he has gone through and put us through over the years, I wouldnt do it.

Sorry, im not really sure what the point of this was, I think I just wanted to vent a little bit.

Hi C

im glad you got some studie done even if it wasn't as much as you wanted to.

honestly depression in general just makes you tierd all the time the past 5 months I've just been exhuasted all the time but the cruel thing is I can never sleep it's really a hard thing the meds can make you a little more tierd but I don't find that they do that much.

hopefully their parents get home soon so you can get some sleep.

mmm i agree

im used to being tired all the time, tbh i cant really remember the time when i didnt have depression, but this is different
the tiredness is on another level at the moment, i cant seem to concentrate much at all, which has only started since ive been taking the meds

Yeah the meds tend to do that for a while. They make me a bit scattered but it's worth it sometimes but if it's still affecting you a lot in a couple weeks time I would see your GP.

im going to try and get some sleep now.

thinking of you

Take care of yourself. It can take time to work or even find the right thing. Importantly keep your professional team in the loop especially if you feel more depressed or anxious.

Hey guys sorry I've been mia I'm having a real hard time stopping the ads. They must have been starting to work because I feel crappy now I've stopped them. Also tempted to go back to the doctors. Can anxiety and depression really make you feel this terrible? Glad you guys had a couple of good days. The lack of sleep is so annoying it's almost like you know the next day is going to be long and tiring when the night before is bad. SN hope you are doing OK? I haven't checked back into your thread. You guys on here are so good I don't know how you keep up with everyone and all the threads!

Thanks ABC17, i definitley am making sure i take care of myself. Im actually feeling much more awake and alert today which is great

hi KMTE, so sorry youve been struggling recently. I feel like maybe it would be a good idea to go back to the doctors, they might be able to help you with the side effects of withdrawel from the AD's until you are able to start the new ones.
they ended up getting home after 1am but i slept in until 9 so feel much better than i thought i would

hope youre doing okay today

Hi sn,

today i just did a lot of work, wrote out notes for lots of lectures and im about to watch one more.
tomorrow im at uni from 9 til 5 because i have my prac (usually its just 9-2) which im not looking forward to and ive heard the prac is really boring so that will be a fun 3 hours haha
i didnt get to the gym today because i ended up sleeping in, but i will try to go tomorrow after i finish uni.

the nausea is much better now, i barely felt it at all today apart from when i was having dinner so hopefully the worst of it is over
tomorrow i will have been taking them for 10 days 🙂 definitely feeling better but then again you never know when a bad few weeks will hit so im thinking positively but expecting anything.

how was your day today?

haha 9 isnt really a sleep in i know, but at the moment uni is a bit crazy and theres so much work i have to get done so i cant sleep in too late. usually i get up at 8 or 7:30 so it was nice having the extra hour
hope you recover from being sick really soon! it might have happened because you were doing so much physical work last week and your body might have just got a bit of shock from it
hope your day was better today
