Hi
Was recommended to start my own thread so here it is. The gist of it is I am unhappy, unmotivated and don't enjoy or look forward to anything. Am always tired and hate my life!

Purple, try telling yourself “I can” instead of I can’t. It’s amazing how limiting a negative internal voice can be and please try to be kind to yourself. You are not nothing. You are a valuable human being who is worthy of love, kindness and respect... especially from yourself!
We all care about you, that’s why we’re here offering our support. Have you seen how many posts are in this thread?? It’s hit 90!! I’ve never seen a post in this newbie forum with so many comments. With so many people reaching out to you. With so many people telling you they care. With so many people offering support. With so many people treating you with love and kindness.

May I ask what happened last time you got help from someone like a doctor? As in what made it a bad experience?

Nothing bad happened but that was a long, long time ago. I find these days the people I see don't seem to show as much concern. Maybe they think there's nothing they can do and I am just a horrible person who needs to change and get some motivation

You are not a horrible person, You have depression which makes you want to think you are. I would like you to see that you are a beautiful person but depressed.
Purple, I'm going to talk to you for a minute, You need to try and get motivated to help yourself, depression will not just go away, you need to start helping yourself to get out of depression, we all have given you suggestions that you don't seem to want to try.? or if you have tried you have given up?. Never give up trying,to have a happier life. Purple please can you try and go back to you gp and speak to him/her about therapy again, don't give up on this,
When you are Sad with sad thoughts, distraction works to give your mind a rest ok it works for a limited time, but it works, If your cleaning your house for a couple of hours, think only of what you are doing at the time you are doing it. Your mind can only have one thought at a time, so when you are washing dishes think about what you are doing, feel the water, the bubbles, the item your washing up. Be Mindful of what you are doing when you do it. Please try.
The people talking to you here can only help you, by suggestions, by their own experiences. Purple only if you want to get better you can.
Maybe give this number a ring and talk things through with them. 1300224636. I've rang them a few times and they are good to talk to.
Please consider trying to get professional help again, you are worth it.

Of course I want to get better. I think that taking years to get better is unthinkable as some of the people on here are experiencing. I can do all of the suggestions but I don't want to spend years struggling to attain an elusive degree of happiness. All too hard. Keeping occupied is not always achievable.

I know the answer. At least they're trying. I do try all the suggestions but bandaids are fine ror a while. I just want to be happy for are more prolonged period of time. THERE ARE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE

You didn't upset me I'm sorry if I made you think that. I am angry that feeling less unhappy for a short period of time doesn't improve my depressive feeling. If it will take years to feel any better then it's not worth it because I won't be able to feel like this for that long. Life wouldn't be worth it. It would seem ridiculous to work so hard for years whilst still feeling depressed most of the time. How do people do it?

Hello Purple,
I understand how your feeling about only small doses of normal, it's even that really, it's just time out from being sad, I personally Welcome even 1 minute without sadness.
I have read on a few different threads that we have to accept our illness, I am trying to do this, and it's hard, but then again I don't want to be who I am now, I want to be happy as well, that's why I am trying .
I really wish we could take a pill that takes the sadness way, but unfortunately we cannot.. A person who lets say, breaks a bone, he sees the dr, a person who has heart problems sees a cardiologist, we have mental health problems we see a psychologist, different Drs for different illnesses.
I am trying as others are trying to get well for a happier life, I believe that the small doses of normal do get longer the harder we try, that's why we all keep trying, Please keep trying, we never know what's around the corner, never stop hoping that you will get well again. That's what I'm believing in atm.
I hope your day today has a little bit of happiness in it for you.

Not feelin good today, the loneliness is overwhelming. I hate feeling like this. I did not want to get up this morning, I had no reason to do so. I did though because I know if I stay in bed I will feel a lot worse. I hope I hear from someone soon as my mind is diverted when I'm writing these messages
