I was wondering what are your go to songs you listen to when depressed?
Mine is anything Elton John, particularly Don't let the sun go down, i guess that's why they call it the blues, Rocket man., something about the way you look tonight. Anything Delta Goodrem..Sinead O Connor, nothing compares. All cried out by Allure. Flawless by Delta goodrem, Heavy by Delta Goodrem, Life by Delta, Fragile by Delta. Mistaken Identity by Delta.
I listen to my sad songs, drink and normally cry.
What songs do you listen to depressed?

Hi Pf, lovely to see you here
I like the clip as well.
Hi Golden i don't listen to music much at home, I don't even have the energy to set it up and put a cd in the cd player, but I listen a lot in the car. I buy old cds on ebay and listen to entire albums for weeks at a time. I like the oldschool thing of having an album on repeat. Very picky though wht can listen to when I feel upset
Fine line between too depresing and cathartic and i probably stuff it up a bit

When I'm depressed, which technically is all the time, lol, I listen to all my normal stuff.
But if I want to purposefully wallow in feeling down, which is fine by me, then it's off to the band known as The Cure.
Pictures of You.
Boys Don't Cry.
then if I really want to ramp up to a good old cry it's onto Sinead O'conner's famous Nothing Compares 2U [Official Music Video] on youtube.

hi all
probably things frm my childhood, that evoke memories really strongly
things which have an emotive association
its painful and makes me remember a bit.... but sometimes as teens we have the best taste... lol
the songs from my childhood still hit the spot

Gidday Sleepy21. I'm very new to these forums but your post about music making you say struck a chord (excuse the pun!) with me. Thanks for being so open about the way you feel.
It makes me sad that you are sad when there is so much great and emotional uplifting music out there to suit almost every mood. It's just a matter of discovering it. Not being a tech head, I believe there are music selection programmes that you might try. For example party music, music for being alone, music for driving, even music for studying. If you are not sure, most music forums will help with this question.
Mozart the famous classical composer for example was known for his lack of ego and this is very obvious when you listen to some of his compositions, which are so upbeat and happy. Student often study to his music.
Have you watched many music videos? I'm showing my age here but Netflix has a great documentary on ZZ Top. I am not a huge fan of their music but was impressed by how tenacious they were in the early days and how they fought to overcome obstacles. Then 'Whammo' they released the Eliminator Album with great songs and videos when MTV first launched and the band took off.
Anyway not sure what else I can add but can't help but think there is so much uplifting music out there that maybe you haven't discovered yet. Find it, play it loud and keep on playing it!
Cheers for now, The Bro.

Good on you Sleepy21!
I was thinking about you today when I saw an athlete interviewed on TV. She was Genevieve Gregson who ruptured her achilles tendon in the 3000m steeple chase just before the end. Ten years of heart busting training and sacrifice gone just like that!
Your know what she said? "No I'm not OK yet but I will be!".. So she has a plan and is looking forward to recovery already after surgery and 6mths no running.
Makes me confident the "funk" you are in at the moment will soon disappear and the strong person you are inside will emerge. Play it loud and dance like no one is looking!
