I was wondering what are your go to songs you listen to when depressed?

Mine is anything Elton John, particularly Don't let the sun go down, i guess that's why they call it the blues, Rocket man., something about the way you look tonight. Anything Delta Goodrem..Sinead O Connor, nothing compares. All cried out by Allure. Flawless by Delta goodrem, Heavy by Delta Goodrem, Life by Delta, Fragile by Delta. Mistaken Identity by Delta.

I listen to my sad songs, drink and normally cry.

What songs do you listen to depressed?

A list of songs that I listen to when I am depressed, some help make me feel happier whilst others allow me to let out a few tears. Also as I have scrolled through this forum post I have seen some really beautiful and wonderful choices like Neil Diamond & Elton John. The top few help me feel happier.

Songs that make me somewhat happier when depressed :

1. Distant Sun by Crowded House (beautifully written, lyrically. I really love this song and that is why it is too on my list. It truly resonates with me and it allows me to gain some inner strength to try and get through day, if I am feeling really emotional for whatever reason or just really really down. The line - 🎶Still so young to travel so far, old enough to know who you are. Wise enough to carry the scars without any blame, there’s no one to blame.🎶 Soothes me in times of sorrow and deep darkness.) Also side note really like Private Universe, Four Seasons In One Day or You’re Not The Girl You Think You Are - personally I think Neil really channels Lennon’s brilliant lyrical construction in that very last song. He also captures Lennon’s vocals and a similar harmony range to the Fab Four from Liverpool.)

2. Under The Milky Way by The Church

3. Anything by Cat Stevens/Yusuf

4. Solitary Man, Play Me or Heartlight by Neil Diamond

Songs that make me cry when I am depressed - (or just in general) - in no particular order either!

1. When I need you or have you ever been in love by Leo Sayer

2. The Special Two by Missy Higgins

3. Torn by Natalie Imbruglia

4. White Flag or Here With Me by Dido

5. Jealous Guy by John Lennon or Roxy Music’s Bryan Ferry’s version

6. You were meant for me by Jewel (😭😭😭)

7. I’m on fire by Bruce Springsteen

8. What To Know What Love Is by Foreigner

9. And I Love You So by Perry Como

10. Light Surrounding You by Evermore

11. The Miracle of love by The Eurythmics

12. Heaven by Bryan Adams

13. Don’t Give Up by Peter Gabriel ft. Kate Bush

LASTLY...

14. Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel

Also.. sorry for all of the posts haha.

The Korgis with the song Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime

Patrick Swayze with She’s Like The Wind

Mike & The Mechanics with ‘In The Living Years’

Love your taste in music there PF!! I love those songs too.

Agree with Sleepy too - that sometimes even too low for music. There is a song by Johnny Cash called 'Hurt' I can listen to that one sometimes. And a few others I can't even think of now that I turn to.

Thank you so much Golden82. Hurt is a beautifully raw but yet incredibly sad song. My friend sang it in his tribute band once and it made me really upset because the lyrics got to me.
Sad video clip too. Have you seen it Golden82?

hurt is such a good one 🙂

Hi PF, Sleepy, and all,

Yes, I have seen the video clip, agreed it is sad. Lately I haven't been able to listen to music at all - for about a month I think. Hope you all have a good day 🙂
