Hunger games has help with my depression

Hi

just wanted to share something positive that has/is helping me determine if my mind is playing tricks or not .

i watched the lastest in the hunger games movies recently and there is a scene in it were Peter ( recovering from being brainwashed and poisioned)  ask Katniss (who he loves but has been told in brainwashing not to trust) if she can help him trust her again by asking her questions when his mind is playing trick on him. The game is called real or not real I have adopted this whenever my mind tries to sabotage me into thinking my wife just puts up with me , it's working really well I just say things like ..."you think I'm weak and a bad dad ? " REAL or NOT real .. She answered NOT real (phew) this answers my fears and it so quick there is no arguments

i encourage anyone who has not seen the movie to you tube it

cheers

Sounds like you have a found a really positive way to keep yourself on an even keel. Congratulations! I have not seen these films though I have heard of them.

It is great to hear you have found the technique useful! I too have found the Hunger Games to help me, not only in using the Real or Not Real game, but also lets me sort of connect with Katniss, Peter etc. in a way that helps me to connect with how I feel, and be encouraged to push through and on like they did, and how I am feeling is valid. It is good to hear someone else who has gotten something from the Hunger Games too.

Outstanding!! Brilliant the way you have interpreted that scene from the movie to your own journey. Great thinking!

I investigate when i am feeling crap. One of my former treating psychs said, "You are a Detective (which i am), investigate the thoughts and feelings and you will find there is nothing to substantiate them". Did it and although not fool proof, certainly helps.

There are so many different ways we can combat mental health issues and you have enlightened me to another one. Thanks so much for doing that.

Love your positivity - great to read!

Mark.
