Hi Lizziep2468

The pressures and stresses of Year 12 is hard and I totally understand as 2 of my 3 children have gone through year 12 and another to start next year.

I'm worried about you saying you have been diagnosed with major depression and you are self harming.  Are you seeing a doctor or psychologist?

Do you have a school counsellor that you can talk to; any family member that you can ask for help.

You need help, so please ask for help from your school or even your parents.

Please take care

dear Lizzie,

You are at an age where there is much for you to learn and experience in life, but when you are faced with depression and self harm then this makes your life to be a struggle, and this causes you to begin your life in an awkward way, but this isn't any fault of yours, because you never wanted this to happen.

Now that you have this awful illness it now blocks you off from the rest of the world, and it always makes you feel as though you don't want to communicate with anyone, as this has happened to all of us, now and in the past.

Being your age there is a temptation to fall into the hands of someone who believes that if you take this or that then you will feel much better, and it's very easy to accept them, however, what it does is only make you worse off down the track, but it also messes up your life even more, sorry this is an elderly man saying this, and I must seem old to you.

When we are with 'friends' we pretend that we are OK, so we put on a fake face so they believe that everything is 'fine', but deep down, hell it hurts and if only they knew what this depression was doing to you

You are a brave girl to post on here, so you have to be commended for this, it's never easy, and lots of people say to themselves 'will I or won't I'.

There are many different types of people here, and all of them give outstanding advice from their own experience, so this is where you can talk to us, but I would suggest that you go and see your doctor, as you need to be linked up with a professional as well. Please get back to us. Geoff. x
