Hello, I am new to the forum, I have had a bleeding and painful tumour on my uterus for the last four months. I am now on the public health system awaiting consultation then a hysterectomy.
I feel i have underlying depression and my medical condition, and have been feeling hopeless , sad and down for this whole time. I work full time , had been booked in privately for surgery and got knocked back by my health insurer. I am constantly worried at work about everything, and bleeding through my pants. I am on medication which is stemming the bleeding but the last couple of days it isnt really working. I just want this tumour out as I am unwell, trying to fulfill my duties as work, trying to maintain a marriage and friendships and family commitments. I am feeling down, sad and at times unable to cope.
Any advice to get back to my happy self ?

Hi Daisy. Why are you on a waiting list for something so serious and painful? I suggest you see your Dr and get him to put you on the urgent list. The sooner this operation happens the better. You should not have been refused by your insurance agency. I recently had a cancerous tumor removed from my right breast. I am not 'covered' but the operation was immediate and public hospital, no questions asked. I also underwent 5 weeks radiation, again no 'cover' again, no problems. You could be at risk of infection, is your Dr aware of how serious your condition is? Please go back and get him to try to hurry things for you. Your depression is because of your medical issues which is hardly surprising. Perhaps a female gynaecologist, although the waiting list there could be longer. Keep pushing your Dr, I'm blown away by this negligence on his part.

Hi Daisy. Are you on pain killers/anti-depressants etc? If you are taking both, one could be working against the other. Perhaps a visit to the Dr for some reassurance with your medication might alleviate some of your distress. The longer you wait for this surgery the worse the depression is as depression can cause other pain which will aggravate the pain from the tumor. Hospitals often seem to operate (no pun intended) on a permanent 'go slow' system too. If the Dr feels it is warranted, he can push a bit harder.
