Welcome to the Beyond Blue forums, we are so glad that you have made you way here and had the bravery to post and will be reaching out to you privately to offer you some additional support this evening so if you could check your inbox that would be great.
We are sorry to hear you are feeling this way right now, are you engaged with any support services, or in particular, your GP to let them know that you feel like it's becoming all too overwhelming? We would encourage you to reach out to your GP if not Rachael666, and in the meantime, we would love for you to give one of our fully trained counsellors a call for some counselling support, we are here 24/7 on 1300 22 4636 or via our WebChat. In addition, our lovely friends at Lifeline (13 11 14) and the Suicide Call Back Service (1300 659 467) are always there for you whenever things are feeling like too much to cope with.
Please keep safe and remember you aren’t alone on your journey to better mental health. We will leave you in the hands of our lovely community members who will be here on your thread soon. Thanks again for sharing. It’s a powerful and brave first step towards feeling better.
Regards
Sophie M

Hi Rachael666,
Well done for taking that first step and seeking help! I just wanted to echo what Sophie_M has said. Talking to your GP is a great step to take. For immediate support, calling BeyondBlue or Lifeline can also be really helpful - I did this many times in the past when I was struggling. Also, if possible taking a step back from your work and/or study can provide additional mental space for recovery.
Please feel free to tell us more about what you're going through. There are so many nice people on these forums that may have life experience to share that will be helpful. All the best,
yggdrasil

Hey Rachael, welcome to the forums.
I hope you have a regular GP whom you feel you be honest with about how you're feeling?
You can ask any GP for a MH Care Plan which gives some sessions to a therapist.
We could feel depressed for a variety of reasons, are you able to express what you're going through atm?
You mentioned depression AND anxiety.
I've had both at the same time too. It was a weird balancing act! BUT some daily practices can really improve our wellbeing for both. Practices such as SELF-CARE, self-compassion and daily journalling about gratitude can help alot, especially when we make these new habits.
Depression needs us to LIFT ourselves up.
Anxiety needs us to GROUND ourselves.
Another amazing field of healing is to learn to live in the present moment, it's all we've got!
Depression can occur when we're rethinking the past.
Anxiety can occur when we're worrying about the future.
Bringing ourselves BACK to the present moment helps alleviate both.
There are SO MANY FREE YouTube channels that can assist us with our healing journeys.
It would be very helpful to know more about what's going on so we can offer more helpful suggestions.
Best wishes
Love EM

Hello Rachael, it's never easy to know where you should start with depression, because your thinking changes daily, so your thoughts are not able to focus on one particular problem and if this does happen, it then blocks out any benefits you may be letting go, because you never feel as though they are worth anything.
We have all been in this position and even now many people are still suffering from it, so we know exactly what you are saying.
It takes an enormous effort to begin but here you have the chance for us to try and help you, so try and start small, then let us know why you feel this way.
