dear DWR,the difference between anxiety and depression could vary from person to person, however by being anxious means that you a fear, panic, anxious and nagging worry of something that maybe going to occur.

You are in a state of nerviness, pulse pumping faster than usual and fearful of going somewhere and disorders are called GAD, panic disorder, panic attacks and having phobias.

It also includes people with OCD who have a constant worry that if they don't keep checking and/or doing repetitive actions that something awful will happen to them themselves or to someone else.

Depression and anxiety can happen together, but with depression we feel as though we don't want to do anything, let alone even wanting to get out of bed, overwhelmed by our day to day activities or tasks, effect personal relationship, constantly having negative thoughts about everything that we are facing, suicidal thoughts, losing the will to continue on working and/or uni.

The list goes on and I'm sure other wonderful people will add to what has been said. Geoff.

Hi DWR,

Like Geoff says, there can be a lot of crossover between depression and anxiety, I personally have experience of both. The checklist that doctors use to diagnose depression and anxiety (which you can take yourself on our website here) is the same.

The symptoms and causes can differ for both, and there are also different sub-types of each. These sections of our website should provide you with some further information:
