There is a unique connection between what we eat and how we feel. This thread is all about sharing food ideas and recipes that are healthy or easy so we have time to look after our health while suffering from an illness or maybe just because you can.
Whats up buttercup?
A healthy body is a healthy mind and vice versa! This will be food for the soul!
Here's an idea to get the ball rolling:
I get a kaleslaw from coles pre-made, it has five super foods in it including seeds with a very healthy yoghurt dressing. This is great in wholemeal wraps with ham and cheese for lunch or as a salad with freshly grilled chicken for dinner with toasted wraps as a crunchy feel. It usually lasts 3 days and I only dress it when I eat it. Enjoy that one on me.

Welcome Chef romantic_thi3f!
You are a lovely addition to our BB Kitchen.
Awesome suggestions.
I totally agree with you, sometimes when energy is low, cooking a full-on meal is the last thing that we want to do!.
I would also like to encourage people to also see cooking as another form of meditation...that's how it is for me now.
As a Chef, the kitchen is my workplace...so when I feel stressed in the kitchen, I take a big deep breath and find my 'zen' again.
I love cooking, and now I use it as part of my holistic-health plan.
There is much magic to be found in a kitchen!.

Hi everyone. I thought you guys have shared some awesome recipes I should join in on the fun.
A cheap, delicious and easily freezable dish I like to cook is Spaghetti Bolognese.
Ingredients
-500g lean beef mince
-one onion
-1/2 carrots
-1 large zuichinni
-capsicum
-mushrooms (optional)
-can of whole/diced tomatoes
-your favourite red pasta sauce
-spaghetti
-oil
Method
1. Grate the carrot and the zuichinni. Put in a bowl and leave on the side. Finely dice the capsicum, mushrooms and onion (recommend doing the onion last). Put the diced vegetables in a bowl separate to the grated vegetables.
2. Put water with a dash of salt in the saucepan (use boiling water if you want it to be ready faster)
3. Spray oil or use one table spoon of oil to coat the pan. Cook the mince till they are brown. Take mince out of pan in a bowl
4. Spray or use a teaspoon of oil and cook the onion, capsicum and mushroom. Cook till mushrooms or onions are brown. Then add the grated vegetables, can of diced tomatoes and pasta sauce. Leave to simmer
5. Add the pasta to the water. Leave it in water till it is cooked. I usually taste test it to see if it is cooked.
6. Before the pasta is completely cooked add the mince bowl (straining all the liquid/fat that comes out of the meat) into the saucepan with the vegetables and pasta sauce. '
7. Strain pasta once cooked
8. Serve with pasta at the bottom of the bowl, followed by cheese and sauce. (cheese can go on top but melts better underneath)
Note to freeze this put in individual serves in the fridge and once cooled down to fridge temperature then put in the freezer. Note I usually wipe the lid before putting in freezer so condensation isn't also frozen to the lid giving it an icy appearance.
Nutrition tips with this dish
-Choose lean mince
-choose low fat cheese
-look for pasta sauce with lowest sodium and highest vegetable content
-choose high fibre pasta, remember with fibre you need to drink water with it in order for it to assist with your bowl function
-portion control. Don't have too much pasta. Carbs are not the enemy however we do tend to overconsume at times
-have a side salad if you do not want grated vegetables in your pasta.
-Use dinner to help contribute to your 5 serves of vegetables in a day.

Grazie Chef Purple!.
Welcome to The BBkitchen.
Spag Bol...excellent choice.
I make my own pasta now - Have you ever made your own pasta or gnocchi?
I will post two easy 'pasta' recipes a little later.
In fact, I feel that a round of Italian recipes is in order as well.
Thanks for the inspiration.
I will post that anon as well...
And, Hello there Chef GoldenBoy!.
Baked Beans on Toast are among my faves as well!.
What I'm really liking about the Chefs here at The BBk is that we can give recipes to cater for all types of budgets, as well.
I feel that I must walk my walk and talk my talk as a Chef, so I'm gonna present recipes that you can do from scratch...because that's why I love to cook!.
Cooking is an art.
Cooking is a science.
That's why I love to cook so much.
My grandmother was a fantastic French cook.
Her potato salad was famous throughout the land.
I make it often now, when I want to impress a lovely young lover boy that I may have over for dinner.
Works a treat.
My grandma would be very proud of me!.
I grew up in NZ and was raised in a traditional Maori way...with a bit of French ways thrown in for good measure.
I laughed often with my grandmother.
She was the best grandmother...ever!.
I come from a family of marvelous cooks and bakers.
My uncle's Golden Syrup Steamed Pudding recipe...was coveted by many in our town.
My Aunt made the best homemade pizza, and fried rice.
My Mum however was not the best cook...at all...at all at all...at all!.
Bless her, she is good at ironing and pressing clothes though!. <-Mum owns a successful dry cleaning business in Auckland.
As a child till I was around 11 years, I lived in the family home with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
I have many happy memories from this time of my life.
For that I am grateful.
My grandmother passed away when I was 5 years of age.
I was too young to process grief and loss...so I stored it away.
When I was 11 years of age, my granddad passed away.
Our family split apart, and after that, living with a single Mum was tough, for her and us kids.
Some days, we had no food.
I remember we ate frozen christmas cake for 3 weeks!.
For real!.
Makes me laugh now thinking about it!.
...at least we had cake, right?...
So I cook now as a kinda dedication of love to my family - Grandmother and Grandfather especially...they would be so proud that I'm a Chef now.
And, now...I'm all thoughtful.
...I'll be back.
MuchLove
