What Do You Collect/Whats Your Hobbies?

Most people have some sort of hobby. The enjoyment and satisfaction of a hobby is a great way to be at peace.

Who remembers the old K-Tel records of the 60s and 70s? Who's still got them? Yep,I kept mine. Mind you I started collecting the 70s compilation hits albums like Whopper,Ripper,Ripper 76,Explosive Hits 75,Bobby Dazzler,Unreal, etc. Got a great collection too.Even bought the 45s and those box sets of albums like Readers Digest, etc.

As for books I like collecting books. Usually on my favourate cars. I have a lot of self help books. I like things from the past like old toys just like the ones I had as a child. Nothing like brightening your day by looking at old toys taking your back to your childhood.

Over to you: What do you collect/whats your hobbies?

I tried to make my own horse rugs but found I'm not as good at sewing as I thought I was! I tend to buy from online saddlery's when they have sales.

I do adore my horses and dogs, they are a kind of therapy...

Right now I'm into reading rural romance books.

Hi Everyone,

Just been having a browse here. It is wonderful people have so many different activities and interests to keep them busy and motivated.

Last weekend I went to a craft market with my sister. I wanted to take photos on my phone of so many amazing ideas! I didn't though, that would be a little bit like stealing wouldn't it? Not sure. Some people are so clever!

Yesterday I started to clean out my craft supplies. I hope to be inspired again to make a few things.

Someone mentioned singing! I was asked if I would join the Church choir, I said yes, but only if everyone turned their hearing aids off! Ha. Ha. I love to hear people sing and play music.

I'm still trying to work out if gardening is a hobby for me or a necessity! My husband doesn't do gardens. Ha. Ha.

I gather postage stamps have done since I was a child. A couple of people save their used stamps for me. Some of the over seas ones, especially from China are beautiful.

Cheers all from Mrs. Dools

Hi, I am new to this website but I would like to share my hobbies. I have a lot of hobbies but not as much time or motivation. When I feel good, I like reading books, mountain biking with my family, I like playing board games and cooking. My biggest hobby is a photography and making some art&craft with my little one and I must say this one is the most rewarding as I enjoy looking at my little one and seeing how happy he is. And what do I collect? fridge magnets. I have got so many that I need a bigger fridge😊

Hi Floppy,

I totally agree there is nothing better than sharing something you enjoy with your kids. I seem to collect trees (yep random huh) and drag my little ones out on walks to collect seeds and cuttings when I just need to get out of the house. It's gorgeous and makes me happy when my son calls out "oh look mum there's a jacaranda". I hope to hear more of your story Floppy.

Hi Quercus,

Hopefully you have a large block of land to plant all of those trees! It is lovely you can share this passion with your children.

My sister used to send her children out collecting sticks for the fires. She said it helped them to bond, to get outside and certainly helped to keep the family warm.

Lately I have been enjoying crocheting and have found so many patterns on the internet! I will just need to find someone who can help with understanding the instructions which can mean different things depending on which country the pattern comes from!

Hi Doolhof,

I saw elsewhere that you've been feeling down this week. I hope you're feeling a bit better.

I don't think my 5 acres is going to be big enough long term but I suppose I can always give them away once I get to that point.

Haha your sister has the right idea! I get my kids to stack sticks for winter burn offs (keeps them busy while I plant the trees).

Crochet seems very popular (and knitting) there's a town near me that has a crochet/knitting club which sells what they make to fundraise for the local community. Is there anything like that around you? Maybe they could help with the patterns.

Anyway I hope you feel well, thinking of you.

Hi Quercus,

We have 5 acres here as well. I'm not so sure about planting heaps of trees, I would be exhausted in no time carrying water to them until they were old enough to cope. We have a very poor rainfall here.

One branch fell off a gumtree, I cut some of it up and used it for wind chimes and wood hangings. I like to be creative with what I find around the place. I tried to drill holes into gum nuts and almost drilled my finger! Next time I try that I will use a vice. Trying to hold onto the stem of th4e gum nut turned out to be dangerous. I did have a laugh though, it looked so funny watching this gum nut twirl round and around on the drill.

Last week was a bit of a shocker for me. Think my body is still adjusting to this new medication. Thankfully the last couple of days have been a lot better!

There is a group in one of the towns close to us where people do similar to what you have mentioned. Yes I could ask them for assistance and join them only they meet the same day as I am in the Op Shop. I have also discovered a craft that meets in a library. I plan to pop in there next week as they meet fortnightly.

Thanks for the cheery chat, from Doolhof

Hmm...so what am I collecting? That's easy! Dust and cobwebs...! LOL
