What Do You Collect/Whats Your Hobbies?

Most people have some sort of hobby. The enjoyment and satisfaction of a hobby is a great way to be at peace.

Who remembers the old K-Tel records of the 60s and 70s? Who's still got them? Yep,I kept mine. Mind you I started collecting the 70s compilation hits albums like Whopper,Ripper,Ripper 76,Explosive Hits 75,Bobby Dazzler,Unreal, etc. Got a great collection too.Even bought the 45s and those box sets of albums like Readers Digest, etc.

As for books I like collecting books. Usually on my favourate cars. I have a lot of self help books. I like things from the past like old toys just like the ones I had as a child. Nothing like brightening your day by looking at old toys taking your back to your childhood.

Over to you: What do you collect/whats your hobbies?

I find, particularly now that I've turned 60yo, that variety throughout the day is best.

Once I've done some housework, I might do 2 hours gardening then into my shed to tinker with my vintage convertible car and maybe go for a walk.

If I did a full days gardening my knees would be painful for days

Good Post

I've always wanted to play the harmonica. Not as easy as it looks. Such a great little instrument that can produce so much energy and joy just from a few simple chords. Love the bluesy sound it creates. It'd be cool to play piano or guitar at the same time, like Bob Dylan and many other legends have.

Hi

I love the pan flute. Its haunting. I can imagine being in a forest playing it.

Google pan flute YouTube. The first entry is an amazing Clip

I seem to collect horse rugs - yes I have 10 horses! When I moved 2 years ago my entire horse float was bursting at the seams with my rug collection, no room to put a horse inside. I didn't realise I had so many! I donated about 40 rugs to the Riding for the Disabled nearby but I don't think it made a dent in my collection. I doubt I'll ever have to buy another rug.One of these days I'm going to sort them all out and maybe make another donation to RDA.

That's very cool Tony! The pan flute makes a lovely sound and it does sound very haunting sound to it. It's such an ancient instrument. I love instruments that have so much history to them. I'll check out the You tube clip. Do you play any other instruments?

That's definitely an interesting collection! Wow you have ten horses! You must really love your horses. Have you made any rugs yourself? Where do you buy them from? That's wonderful that you have donated so many to such a great cause. Animals are the best therapy for any child or person, disability or not. Do you collect anything else? What other hobbies do you have?

Variety is definitely best. You have a convertible vintage car! I'm a little bit jealous. What sort of car is it? Yes gardening can be very therapeutic but also taxing on the knees lol. I don't mind pottering round in the garden, mostly pulling out weeds and palm fronds. I like mowing the lawn too (when the bloody thing works lol).

Hi,

I like and collect TV series too, though it sort of crept upon me. I was in a second-hand shop one day and saw a box full of VHS tapes. They were all episodes of a 60’s show I’d thought was pretty cool as a youth featuring the debonair bowler-hatted umbrella-wielding John Steed.

Not all the episodes were in the box so I started looking for them and was amazed how many shows were available. After I acquired every Avengers episode I moved on to my next favorite show ,then the next and (you can see what's coming) the next and .... it’s turned into a monster 🙂

I also do books. My house is full, fortunately my wife is tolerant of her husband’s weird ways and merely collects clothes, shoes and scarves.

Have fun

Sorry for the late reply! I forget a lot of things and completely forgot I posted here.

Ukulele is a lot of fun. Depending on the size, it can be difficult. My fingers can't always bend the right way or my fingers just don't fit on the fret. With only 4 strings on an ukulele it can be considered easier, but you can do some seriously impressive stuff on it. Look up Jake Shimabukuro. This guy is an absolute legend.

I have been blessed with a singing voice, although I am a baritone, I've been trying to focus on reaching those higher notes and trying to figure out techniques to do so. I love singing in the car. People might stare, but who cares.

I can't paint at all. You should find some Bob Ross videos. I've watched some of them and the way he explains his painting style while painting can be funny and soothing. My stick figures are on point haha.

I'm more of an auditory person. I can't read and do something else at the same time. I have to focus on what I'm reading otherwise I forget what I read. lol.... However, audio books are fantastic. You should see all my browser tabs. There's always a lot of them.
