Most people have some sort of hobby. The enjoyment and satisfaction of a hobby is a great way to be at peace.
Who remembers the old K-Tel records of the 60s and 70s? Who's still got them? Yep,I kept mine. Mind you I started collecting the 70s compilation hits albums like Whopper,Ripper,Ripper 76,Explosive Hits 75,Bobby Dazzler,Unreal, etc. Got a great collection too.Even bought the 45s and those box sets of albums like Readers Digest, etc.
As for books I like collecting books. Usually on my favourate cars. I have a lot of self help books. I like things from the past like old toys just like the ones I had as a child. Nothing like brightening your day by looking at old toys taking your back to your childhood.
Over to you: What do you collect/whats your hobbies?

Hi Just Sara,
sounds like you need to brush yourself off. Me I'm very good at collecting EBay purchases. What will I buy next. I'm collecting a large variety of Bromiliads. Pottering around the garden is good therapy for me
cheers LenM

Hey Len!
Yeah...I'm well worn at brushing myself off to start again; it's my life! Ha!
I think there can be a fine line between collecting/hobbies and addiction/hoarding.
E-Bay has eaten away at some family's I know of. I personally don't indulge, but kudos to you for getting out there. Gardening is a great activity, I just don't have 'the touch' I'm afraid.

My favourite hobby is knitting - I like the rhythm of it, I like something to do with my hands in front of the TV, and I like the feeling of finishing something. I'm 28 so my friends are beginning to start families, and knitting baby blankets is such a nice way to welcome a new person into the world.
I don't collect things. I'm actually much more into decluttering - having less stuff around and tidy spaces in my life is very calming!

A wide array of intetests!
My hobbies are pretty varied and include pretty much anything to do with muscle cars including collecting books, magazines and old car advertisements.
I also build model cars. Not blowing my own trumpet but I'm pretty good at it 😜 I used to build professionally but time constraints and children took their toll. Now I just build for me.
Im not a war junkie but I also collect militaria. Mainly WW2 with a particular interest in German stuff but my collection covers everything from the Boer war up to modern.
I used to work in a record shop so my collection of vinyl is rather large!

Hi Dazza
Great to have you on the forums 🙂
Those model cars require huge concentration and precision to build.....I wish I could!
WW2 collectables....always a fascinating subject.
I also collect vinyl and still use a Japanese Technics turntable that is flawless.
I love my 12" Extended Mixes....all mint 🙂
My Best

At the moment I’m really enjoying collecting gemstones and crystals. I am trying them as healing stones. Love my big chunk of Rose Quartz, the stone of love 💕
ok you probably think I’m crazy 😜

I never got the appeal of gemstones and crystals until recently when my boss came back from her lunch break with a big quartz lump she'd just bought. I held it and it was so smooth and comfortingly weighty, and you see how the light catches it all. I loved it!
Personally I collect books with strange medically themed titles... When I started my degree in health I began collecting classic medical reference books (think Greys Anatomy, What to Expect when You're Expecting, etc), but I soon found myself drawn to the more ridiculous titles. My most prized find has to be 'How to Good-bye Depression: By Constricting Anus 100 times a day. Malarky? Or Effective Way?'
I hasn't helped me good-bye depression yet (not that I've tried all of its... interesting... suggestions), but it makes for a great conversation starter!

Oh Ellie,🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the laugh.
Do let us know if you manage to good-bye depression by those means, or if it's a malarky.
Oh man, that's a real treasure you have there.
Well, on a more boring note, i collect tea-towels, I especially like vintage tea towels and pretty tea towels that look lovely when I hang them on the washing line to dry.
Also bits of random fabric and buttons that I will do something amazing with one day (or not) that sort of procreate in the spare room.
And plants/seeds for planting.
