The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hello Jessbatzie & welcome to the BB Cafe.
It's really nice to have someone to share the BB Cafe with tonight.
Care for a mug of hot chocolate?
What are you in the mood for? Movie, music, game???
Anything is possible in the BB Cafe.
Me, I'd like to sit up here on my favourite windowsill & look out at the moon.
Even though it's rather cloudy & humid tonight where I am, at the BB Cafe, I can see the moon just fine. It's like a big silver 20c coin in the sky, but with some pits & bumps from being in & out of the juke box.

Hello Everyone,
I recently heard someone quote an English Proverb which reminded me of my mum using them & us kids coming back with the opposite one... as kids we knew lots, but I can only think of two off the top of my head:
Many hands make light work - vs - Too many cooks spoil the broth &
Look before you leap - vs - He who hesitates is lost
anyone else like to try some?

Paws, I love those. One that we learnt in my uni course was:
Absence makes the heart grow fonder vs out of sight, out of mind.
Another one I can think of but can't think of a contradiction for off the top of my head is:
Time flies when you're having fun
I know there are some that exist, possibly about pausing to enjoy the moment, perhaps "stop and smell the roses" but I'm not sure that that's a proverb, probably more just a lyric or a quote from a novel.

Hello SB,
The old brain cells have been trying to come up with the opposite to your Time flies, like you I'm sure there is one, but I can't think of it.

How about 'a watched pot never boils', which describes when time seems to move extremely slowly? Close enough to what you want, Paws?

Ahhh that's a good one, mmMekitty, thank you!
I'm trying to think of some more, but my tired brain is foggy right now.
If anyone else can think of some more contradictions, please feel free to drop them in here!

Hello everyone, especially to those who are experiencing the horrifically hot weather around the country. This is a friendly reminder to stay in the shade, indoors, with fan or air-con, drink plenty of water, & don't be doing strenuous exercise unless under these conditions, where you won't become quickly dehydrated & maybe suffer heat stroke.
I'd even avoid cooking hot meals.
Another idea is to spend the hottest hours during the day in an air-conditioned shopping centre - doing a lot of window shopping, or go for a movie...
I know, it's not so easy when you have pets... hose the dogs down, then keep them in the shade, with (again) lots of water to drink. I used to try to wet Mekitty with a damp cloth, in an effort to keep her cool when it was hot even where I life, even though she didn't like it.... If I still had a bath tub,I"d be filling that & hopping in whenever I felt the heat making me cranky.
Anyone ever notice how being hot makes them so very irritable they could snap at the next person to speak, no matter what they say, but just because of feeling at the end of my tether & not feeling I could cope with anything whatsoever anymore ... so it's time for another cool/cold shower (Or, preferably, ten minutes in a cold bath) & I'ld be alright again ... anyone feel like that?
It would be wonderful & very helpful for all relationships if we can realise the things we can do to avoid unnecessary, unreasonable, outbursts, right? So, during the heat wave, keeping our selves physically cool can helpt keep our moods 'cool' too, I think.
Oh, birds like a bird bath, too... a dish of cool water in the bird cage? Maybe a baking dish so it can't be tipped over easily, unless you have a really big bird....
I remember someone here had mentioned waetting the outside of their home to help cool the inside ... if yyou have done that, please explain more about what you did.

Hey everyone. Hope you are relaxing this evening/afternoon. I have brought gingerbread for anyone that needs it. 🙂 Hopefully the storms will not cause too much of a disruption!
